Chapter 10.2- High Priest

She completed the suit, and I silently marvelled as she wasted no time in setting the bar to its highest weight and then stepped into the suit. It was a bulky thing. That was the first sign of Momo’s tiredness. For her quirk, complexity was the bottleneck and not size. It was actually easier to make a bulky suit like this one than it would have been to make a thinner, slicker model since that would have a lot more moving parts within it that she would have had to independently fabricate and integrate with her quirk.

It was a powerful quirk, regardless of its faults, but anyone with half a brain would know that only Momo’s unique intellect made it so dangerous. In the hands of anyone else, it would be a gun. In Momo’s, it was a nuke. She stepped forward, making the ground rumble with each step and then bent down to the barbell. In seconds, she had it lifted above her head. She returned it to the floor, if a bit less delicately than I had, and stepped back. Aizawa watched the whole thing without saying a word. And after verifying that everyone else had completed theirs, he announced that we were moving to the next test- the grip test.

I practically saw Momo sigh in relief within her suit’s grip as she realised that the next task would not require anything new. I kept my power choices the same and picked up the pressure sensitive handle of the grip tester and squeezed. In a matter of seconds, the attached screen began to let out a whistle.

“Let go of it, Midoriya. You’ve reached the limit” Aizawa said, and I wasted no time in dropping the device down as I noticed that it had begun to smoke in my grip. Unlike me, Momo did not have the control to gradually hit the limit. She squeezed and the machine broke down around her. Aizawa facepalmed while she seemed embarrassed at our classmates’ stairs.

“The Institute will be more than happy to pay for the damages if you could just send them a bill,” I said, stepping to her side and giving her a sympathetic path on her back.

“As if UA would need to do something so petty” The man with the erasure quirk simply scoffed in reply before announcing that everyone had to get back to their tasks and that we’d move to the next thing sooner.

“Sorry. I think I made a mistake in calibrating the actuators” She said, trying to show me the part she was talking about but I just smiled at her.

“It doesn’t matter. You’re killing it. Just remain focused for the next bit” I told her and she nodded.

“The next event is the Balance Test” Aizawa said, walking further into UA’s outdoor gymnasium and taking us into what had to be the gymnastics session. I could see the balance beam but Aizawa was instead pointing at a tightrope suspended several dozen feet above the whole thing.

“The goal is simple. Make it from one end to the other. You must be touching the rope at the way” He said. “Now who wants to go first?” He asked.
