That was perfectly vague so thank you for not spoiling! But yes I totally agree either if these shows are going to have these gay bashing scenes, then there needs to be a "purpose" for it more or less, otherwise just keep it out of the show altogether because there's almost always something like that whenever there is a portrayal of a gay character (other than in Heartstopper and SKAM that I've seen so far)
2022-12-17 18:47:08 +0000 UTCThere is another show I have seen that had a gay bashing scene that I thought was gratuitous, in part because it did not inform what happened later. In this case, what happens to Eric is part of a story arc that will have some payoff later on (I hope that’s vague enough that it doesn’t spoil anything), so in the long run it didn’t bother me the way the other one did. But it is true that that seems to be a trope that “Heartstopper” was wise to disregard.
