Koisuru Beam FL Preset

This will probably more end up like a mixing breakdown instead of how to use the preset, but I feel like maybe that'll be helpful anyway!

Here's the preset for the main vocal of my original song Koisuru Beam! It's not very different from my other vocaloid presets I would say, but the EQ is pretty specific to Rin. The consonants are also boosted a bit to help cut through the mix. As per some of my past mixes as well, reverb and delay are in their own Send tracks, separate from the main vocal/preset.

If any of you would like me to post more presets for the other tracks of the song I'm ok with doing that, they just aren't too different so I didn't feel they'd be super helpful. I guess the only important thing I did for the backing vocals is making the lower harmony panned more to the left and the high one to the right.

Here's a look at the vocal mix project, it's kind of... messy and hard to read but bare with me haha.

I guess the main thing you might notice is all the little clips above the main vocal (4th track down). Those are all breath and vocal fry/glottal stop sounds! I find it hard to replicate the sound I want for those in vocaloid itself, so instead I splice them into the mix where I need them. This is pretty time consuming since I try to find clips that fit the vowel sound and mouth shape on the incoming/outcoming note!

The harmonies are all made with the method I mentioned in past posts, just using AutoTune to force it to only hit a certain range of notes. It's kind of lazy but with a busy mix the robot-ness is kind of hidden so It's sometimes just easier than making a dedicated harmony track in vocaloid.

Always happy to help!! 😊 That was what I wanted this patreon to be for anyhow, helping people get some pointers with stuff. When I started out I felt like there was absolutely nothing, so I'm really happy to hear that you find it helpful!

Hi Cillia. I just wanted to thank you for posting these. It's been so difficult as a new producer trying to figure out how to mix vocals when there's so little information out there that specifically considers vocal synths. These presets, as well as your VSQs, have been a really nice insight into how various sounds are achieved and you've saved me so much headache from not having to trial-and-error my way through every little obstacle.
