Dev Update - D.I.E.T. - 0.16.0
Added 2023-07-25 02:44:38 +0000 UTCHey everyone, just wanted to give an update as to the next version of D.I.E.T. and when you can expect it to release.
Story Status - Complete
Background Images - Nearly Complete
Coding - Complete
Character Renders - 60% Complete
This story is going to be a bit longer in the earlier stages and then progress into 4 separate endings. I'll be grinding out the rest of the update in the coming days.
An additional note: I'm also working through the issues with the Download Quota Exceeded error. I'm looking at doing two things to try and resolve this.
1) I'm looking to implement MEGA into the file sharing process as well (quantity limits will likely also exist with this format too)
2) A member of the community (not sure if they are comfortable with me sharing their name / what they want to go by) reached out to me with a process for compressing files which will significantly reduce the download sizes. I may even end up having a "Standard" and "High Quality" version release at the same time (to be determined).
The 2nd item above is completely new to me. It'll take a little bit of time to work through it once the project is done. I'll likely upload the Normal version first, followed by the High Quality Compression version and Standard Quality Compression version (if I can get them working).
But for now, my goal is completing the update and then working towards a solution which doesn't result in some people having to wait 2-3 days just to download the next version.
Respectfully,
CoastalBunny

The tool which was presented me to has two options. One which is "lossless" where the compression doesn't change the image quality. It simply changes the pngs to webp formats. However, the greater compression one is "lossy" for certain. There is a noticeable "fog" in my opinion. However, to be almost 1/10th the download size using that format is a huge plus for people who struggle to download multi-GB downloads. For reference: Lossless https://drive.google.com/file/d/1Q1s3NqS8VoifaZ1zj4rRdSw2OcKXja8m/view?usp=drive_link Lossy https://drive.google.com/file/d/14rNo6crjBatvD98TDYfpxlSlKGXP9i65/view?usp=drive_link It's a minor difference (and more noticeable in the clothing textures).

2023-07-28 09:48:54 +0000 UTCMy current format is not much of an advantage to people who stick around for monthly updates, but there are quite a few people who join for 1 month, then don't come back for several months. It would require them to download multiple updates in a row just to play the new content. The new compression format will basically make the next update look something like this (these are estimates) - Uncompressed = 6.5 GB - High Quality Compressed = 3.5 GB - Lower Quality Compressed = 400 MB Unsure if I'll be utilizing the Lower Quality Compression yet at this point, but this does do a good job of shrinking it up. Additionally, this gives multiple download options, so that when one file is locked out due to too many downloads, another version will be available for download instead.

2023-07-25 22:58:59 +0000 UTCIs there any advantage bundling it as one game like you are now rather than doing a separate release since each update is a single story line with no cross over. I would imagine that would make the downloads much smaller.
