Hey everyone,
I appreciate all the feedback I've been getting on the progress of D.I.E.T. and just wanted to share some inside information on some of the recent struggles.
A goal of mine was to port D.I.E.T. over to Mac. This has been a goal of mine basically ever since Version 0.1.0 released. I didn't realize how many people who were Mac users were also interested in the game.
So I went out and bought a used Mac for around $300. I will literally never use this thing for anything else. It's old. It's not very fast. And I don't understand much of what I'm looking at. In fact, I had trouble just finding where the User folder was at.
With that said, I bought this Mac specifically because Steam showed that I needed certain requirements (specifically a 64-bit processor) to run TyranoBuilder.
Turns out, this is wrong.
TyranoBuilder doesn't run on a 64-bit processor. It hasn't been updated for some reason. It needed a 32-bit processor to run. So I thought I was out $300.
But I kept digging. Eventually, I found out that TyranoBuilder is the Western Port of the Japanese version titled TyranoStudio (which DOES run on 64-bit processors). However, it's entirely in Japanese (which I certainly cannot read).
Eventually, I stumbled across a step-by-step guide another TyranoBuilder/TyranoStudio user had created. It was literally pictures of where to click and what to change in order for the game to be exported to Mac.
Fortunately, it worked.
D.I.E.T. has been ported over to Mac. I'm currently running the program again to port the Demo over as well. It's been a long road, but I wanted to share that insight with anyone who actually cares about the innerworkings of what it takes to develop these types of things.
Respectfully,
CoastalBunny
