Negan being honest with Maggie here is very important. Again trust. The crazy thing is is I feel like Maggie could get herself to trust Negan. Even after he says that. And he's not wrong, they did slaughter a whole bunch of Negan's people while they were sleeping. It's no wonder Negan hated Rick as much as he did, as far as he could tell the leader that pulled the trigger. I'm definitely not saying what he did is justified because of it but he's not wrong. The only reason Gracie's dad died was because Rick killed him when he as trying to protect her by stopping this violent stranger in his eyes) from getting to her. Even Rick realizes he's in the wrong after this. And we know because we are told multiple times there are families at the Sanctuary and the places they attacked. It was a war yes but Rick brutally killed a man trying to protect his baby. I know Rick thought it was the armory and I don't hate Rick for it despite criticizing him here. But Rick himself is disgusted with himself afterward because he's also a father. That was the beginning of Rick seeing the Saviors as actual people instead of a group he had to kill. Little did Negan know, this wasn't Rick's idea, and he wasn't the one who was able to get Gregory to agree to kill the saviors for supplies they needed but they were given an immediate out by Gregory, he tells them they can work for their share but Maggie and also Daryl bring up fighting with them an convince people to join. Rick never actually talked to Gregory himself because he hated him pure and simple. Maggie was the person behind them killing those people in their sleep, she forced Gregory's hand in agreeing with doing it (and sending his own man to help). I'm not saying this because I hate Maggie or something, the opposite actually. I love her and she is probably my favorite TWD character along with Negan actually, I don't know if you could tell xD. I just want people to realize that Maggie is more of a leader than they think she is. She's very influential and smart and also manipulative, just like Negan has been in the past. Not saying to bash her at all! It actually makes her so interesting and so complex, just like it did with Negan. They won't ever 'be square' but trust can build between people with mutual goals, as shown here. Back to writing paragraphs again xD. Also Negan's back to being a teacher!! Cool to see

2025-07-30 20:36:17 +0000 UTCThe conversation between Negan and Maggie bothered me a looot lol. Most of what negan said was just wrong... Acting like he cared for his people, most of which he wouldn't know the names of and were trapped in the sanctuary as slaves lol. Saying he cares abt them yet he used to laugh and put on a show of him burning their faces off for trying to leave. Forcing them to kneel to him, give uo their daughters so they could sleep with him in exchange for supplies. All of Negans people were either slaves or just as bad as he is. Rick and Maggie stopped them and took his slaves in to have a chance to live properly. Negan acting like he cared for them always bothered me when he was their enemy. His people lived in fear of HIM. He only cared for his people for what they provided, if they protected HIM, he literally had them sleeping in the dirt while he had a Queens sized bed and their wives in his bed. He's just unhinged and I feel he never truly gets called out on all of his acts. Rick and Maggie killing negans men in order to free themselves and others from his slavery and oppression is not comparable to negan brutally murdering innocents infront of their families and laughing during it. Then taking photos of his victims to pin above the beds of his people.

She was there to help the community protect themselves when they were attacked by the reapers and driven out. Reapers took control and sent their men out to hunt maggie and the survivors to kill them. They failed. Now Maggie and the survivors are back to get their food from the base again, Pope's enemies are Maggie and Co, he took their base from them and killed dtheir families and he's paranoid they're back to retake the base.

Maggie was doing her little Georgie thing and helping build the community up. The Reapers came in and killed a bunch of people and took over. They’ve been slowly trying to hunt down those in Maggie’s group that managed to escape because they’re paranoid they’ll come back to take it back

2025-07-25 14:25:14 +0000 UTCI recall the conversation between Maggie & Negan causing a bit of drama in the fandom when this episode aired.. a lot of people just couldnt get past Negan saying what he said.. to quite a few others it made perfect sense. I was among the latter half of the fandom.
