Loved Frank's sections, Dennis's menacing look at the camera, Charlie being weird in a very sad way as usual, Dee lying and sadly craving validation. They are all shaped so heavily by their upbringings that it's hard not to see their behavior as an extension of that. Frank and Barbara raising Dee and Dennis caused a cycle of abuse in that family. Charlie's childhood was obviously very dark, as we know, and it very much shows in the childlike way he acts sometimes and the continuation of the creepy behaviors (not the same, mind you) by stalking the Waitress. Mac is probably supposed to be shown to have BPD in this episode, but a very exaggerated version, which makes a lot of sense for Mac considering his parents seemed to all but ignore him most of his life. (attachment disorder as a kid often leads to BPD in your later teens) There's a lot of things about Dennis I dislike despite him being hilarious, but I also think that was shaped by his upbringing, having Frank and Barbara as parents. Dee being the only one that seemingly sees a therapist in canon is very interesting to me. Could show Dee might secretly want to get better or that she just likes the praise she's able to get for doing it. So sorry for the paragraph, I love this episode and these characters! They are so well defined and acted, also having behavior that stems back to events several seasons ago! Love it! This batch of episodes are so good, in my opinion!
