yeah the prequels have a great plot, but the execution is so damn goofy and hilarious lmao

Good commentary at the end too. You're totally on the money. Anakin was ultimately let down by the Jedi council in how they treated him. Now, that's not to say that it was their fault necessarily, but it's highly likely that if they had treated him better and with more trust, he probably wouldn't have joined Palpatine.

As for Anakin's transformation, you guys are right that it's super fast. But the reason it was so quick was sort of explained. Basically, once you start to be seduced by the dark side, it quickly seeps into all parts of yourself. And once you've made the choice, you are FULLY committed. It's not like real life where you slowly see yourself becoming a bad person. It's an actual supernatural force that's bending your will.

Fun fact: the reason General Grevious is coughing so much is because of an encounter he had with Mace Windu where Windu used the force to almost crush his lungs.

Out of the prequels, I do think this is the best, but it also highlights some of the biggest flaws with the 3 films. Mainly, despite having 3 films to set up Anakin's tragic fall, it STILL felt extremely sudden. I also dislike the way they wrote Padme in this one and the second one. I think after hearing about the sand people someone as smart as her should have immediately heard alarm bells going off. The fact that she was so surprised by his turn after hearing about that makes her seem completely dense. I much prefered her characterization in The Phantom Menace. Overall I do quite like these movies conceptually and I really love how nuanced the political allegory behind them is, but for me they just don't quite hit the mark. I think the scripts couldve used another draft to iron out the kinks, and maybe George shouldve let someone else handle dialogue. That I think wouldve made a truly great trilogy.

1:51:55 I actually would recommend new viewers to watch it in order of story and not release for this very reason. It's like what Morty said, We should start our stories where they begin.
