All of that actual CGI was added way way later in the 90s. All those extra creatures walking around and such. They were obsessed with CGI around that time and went back and added it to the movies. That scene with Han and Jabba talking in the hangar was filmed with a real actor and cut entirely in the original theatrical release because they couldn't replace him with a creature back then.
