great reaction. i was lucky enough to see it in theaters with my friends at 13. i picked up on the themes of consumerism but a lot of the commentary on men having no purpose i didnt fully grasp back then. i say i was lucky because at that age i didn't see the twist coming until the last minute lol that was one of the most gratifying cinematic experiences. if i saw it as an adult id like to think i would've figured it out when you guys did, its pretty obvious on the rewatch also the ending with the Pixies song "where is my mind" playing as the buildings blew up. they became one of my favorite bands. i'm not sure hollywood is capable of something like this anymore, david fincher got away with a lot in such a mainstream movie. probably wouldnt have been allowed post 9/11.
