There’s a lot packed into these post-Rick episodes, especially as we get into mid-season finale. And the pacing isn’t exactly quicker after that point, but there is some needed fill-in of big pending questions of what happened during time-jump and how that connects to present point. Also: After episode 5 or 6 aired, the showrunner confirmed in after-show comments that Ep5 was Maggie’s last episode along with being Rick’s final episode. This episode was really unclear about that, but it really does serve as the only in-show main explanation for Maggie’s whereabouts - even if you’re left wondering.
