Also, the girl Ymir is not the "Ymir" that is written in the book. They are 2 different characters. The girl Ymir from season 2 was named after the Founder Ymir. Similar to how you can name your child "Jesus", but your child is not actual Jesus.

2025-01-15 04:08:35 +0000 UTCRemember Ymir's (the one from season 2) backstory. She was randomly plucked out of a lineup of orphans and taken away somewhere she could live a new life. "And a new life needs a new name" she was given the name Ymir. She also related to Christa in the sense that they both were given fake names and told to live as someone they're not. The group Ymir lived with worshipped her as a God. After they were raided by the police (if you rewatch this scene you'll see it was The Owl conducting the raid), they blamed everything on Ymir and she took the blame willingly. Then she was sent to Paradise as a pure titan where she eventually ate a titan shifter (one of Reiner, Annie, and Bert's friends) and turned back into a human. Also, a quick thing to think about. I think one of you guys noted towards the beginning of the show how the intro sounds sort of patriotic, or like a national anthem. The majority of the intro songs definitely have that vibe. Does that seem like an intentional choice now?

Major Point: Reiner , Bertholdt, Annie, Zeke, & Marcel work for Marley . They were 5 of the 7 Titans that Marley controls. Ymir Fritz (not the orphan Ymir we’ve known for 3 season) is the progenitor . THE FIRST FOUNDING TITAN/aka the Coordinate. From her, all Edlians (subjects of Ymir) & Titans descend. From her come the 9 distinct Titan Powers that we’ve seen throughout the series. With these 9 Titan Powers, the Edlians were able to create an Empire , & according to legend/propaganda, cultivate the land, build roads, bridge mounts, dominate other races & nations, & rule over the world. According to the Marley government , Marley was some how able to overthrow the Eldian empire & bring 7 of the 9 Titans under its control. The Eldian king & Holder of the Founding Titan at the time (100 years ago from the present story) refused to fight & fled to the Island of Paradise with many of his Eldian people, built the walls, & wiped their memory of the outside world, their history, & any knowledge of the conflict with Marley. Leading up to present day & the discovery of this knowledge that Grisha Jaeger (Eren & Zeke’s father) left behind for Eren & the scouts in his basement. Our characters now know their history. The legends of the origin of Titans , the 9 Titan powers, & the 13 year lifespan limit on all who come to possess those 9 abilities, & the Kings “vow to renounce war” that possess any Royal Blooded Eldian that comes to possess the Founder. The 13 year lifespan is why the Royal Family had so many children & continued to pass down the power every 13 years . Eren, Armin, Zeke, Reiner, Annie, & any of the others who possess these 9 titan powers, no matter what side they’re on, are living on borrowed time. Last clarification: The Ymir we’ve known was an orphan in Marley 60 years ago. She was taken in by a cult of Eldian Restorationists that worshiped the goddess Ymir, and gave her that name. When they were discovered by the Marleyan authorities at the time and shipped to Paradise to become mindless Titans, she stayed stuck in that mindless form for 60 years. Mindless Titans do not die unless severed at the Nape. She was able to regain her human form, and one of the nine titan powers when she ate one of Reiner, Berthold and Annie’s friend Marcel. 2025-01-14 15:08:46 +0000 UTCAnime are usually not animated by the same studio sometimes they switch studios which is why animation looks different per episode. In this instance the animation is probably different because there might be different artistic directors that prefer certain styles of animation. S1-3 was animated by Wit studios and it was switched to mappa in S4 which might be the most noticeable animation change for this series.
