Battle Maid

Just an experiment; I wanted to try out designing a character and use a similar colouring style as Granblue…it was an interesting learning process, and I think I understand a few things about the style better now!

His style gives a vintage/venerable feeling in terms of design, but the color of his style breathes this lovely organic tone into character designs that shouldn't seemingly be given such bold but vibrant colors; but in doing so creates this incredible synergy of a post-modern tone that allow these characters to feel like something you could even see today, and it'd feel completely fashionable to see them actually wear this clothing/armor. I think the Hallmark of a Great Artist is: to change the general perception of what is acceptable and or fantastic in way that'd make anyone choose to believe the artist's perception is the correct one; because it's been designed complexly to be simple to digest for anyone's level of appreciation.

That's because Akihiko Yoshida (Bravely Default, a ton of FF games, Vagrant Story, NieR: Automata) works for CyGames! I don't know how much of Granblue Fantasy's artwork he did himself, but it's obviously influenced by his style/illustrators under his art direction probably have to follow his style.

Reminds me of Bravely Default's concept art/character design/color scheme with your own stylistic choices. Can tell you focused a lot on the anatomy of the body rather than the face; armor color looks fantastic and flows beautifully with an almost organic flair.
