Haha, I really appreciate the shoutout. It was a long wait, but it was worth it. Thank you both for finally reacting to this one. The director wanted to actually make the sequel first, but he didn't have the budget at the time. So he made The Raid 1, and once it became successful, he got started on the sequel. Bigger scale, bigger story, and most importantly, bigger fight scenes. You clearly can tell where the money went in the budget for this one. I feel it's one of the rare sequels that I feel surpass the first movie. That kitchen fight is definitely one of the GREATEST 1-on-1 fights I have ever seen. I legitimately got scared for Rama at that point because I felt he was actually going to die. Once he got one of the Assassin's karambit, it truly became a fight to the death. The intensity, the stress, the music buildup, and the determination from both sides to just survive still gives me chills to this day. There was SUPPOSED to be a Raid 3, and it was supposed to take place 2 hours BEFORE the ending of Raid 2. However, the director changed his mind, feeling that he couldn't have the third movie live up to the legacy of this film, so he scrapped it. And so, we're left with the more ambiguous ending of Rama's fate. There's all these kinds of interpretations on what Goto's son and Rama said to each other. Mine is that he offered him some kind of deal to join their gang. But at this point, Rama is just DONE. Like, he just wants to either go home and be with his family, or just die, period. The man has been through so much shit in both movies in a 3 year span that he is just exhausted. Not to mention, he started off as a ROOKIE. I can keep going on about both of these movies, but I said enough. Haha. Thank you again for finally watching it. You guys made my year.
