I love this movie. I think it was Andrew McCarthy's best performance, he's usually more of the dramatic type actor so it was fun seeing him in this role. he said in his autobiography that he was originally cast to play Richard, but he loved the Larry Character and got them to give him the part for Larry instead. He also said a bit of his stuff was improved. The Monopoly, fishline and fly swatter he came up as well He said they had board games on set to help pass the time while waiting to shoot, and he got the idea about that scene. And he improvised the line "He gets laid more dead than I do alive and I just get yelled at for laying there" you can see both of them trying not to laugh at that. Anyway, fun film And props to the guy playing Lomax.

2024-07-26 22:31:57 +0000 UTCAnd a lot of the gags were written as they were filming. Andrew McCarthy used the example of stapling the toupee on Bernie's head. They were just laughing around and thinking of funny things to do with a dead body and again, the movie kinda of wrote itself from there.

2024-07-26 22:30:42 +0000 UTCThe amazing thing about this movie - according to Andrew McCarthy (the guy who played Larry) the actor who played Bernie never broke character! He made the best corpse! So when the guys were carrying Bernie around, it wasn't a dummy...it was the actor (with the exception of maybe a stunt or two) the whole time!
