Bonus Panel - Bisexual, Confidence, and Aux Cord

Triple bonus panels today!! As always, I'll put a little blurb about my thoughts on making each of these comics below!

Bisexual
This comic was SUCH a long time coming. There's a bit of a backstory about this. Nearly three years ago, I made a pride comic where I accidentally said that Eddie was bi instead of gay (because I totally forgot), and ever since then, I've always drawn him with the bi flag, even though it's explicitly stated in the comics that he's gay. He's now bisexual canonically. I've had this comic planned way back from 2022, where it was originally going to be a big series about Eddie running into his ex-girlfriend and there being a whole discussion on sexuality and how his breakup made him gay, but he's rediscovering himself now etc. etc., but I felt like it was not nearly interesting enough nor worth the effort of exploring, so I turned it into this one-off gag. This bonus panel may be the single most cursed bonus panel I've ever made, also.

This comic actually took an annoying amount of finagling to get right. I'm decently confident in my ability to freehand perspective, but for some reason the shape of the couch just messed with my brain so much, I ended up redrawing and re-inking it at least five times. Also, I thought it'd be really funny if I put them in bisexual lighting, and I thought a karaoke booth would be fitting for that, so that's where I loosely based the location off of!

Confidence
I looooove this comic. I think it wonderfully captures how these two have changed over the years of drawing them, where Duncan is much more confident and forward, but he's still a bit of a dork and worries plenty. I had a ton of fun with the environment and the colors too! I really wanted this really rich sea-green palette and that first panel of Duncan and Eddie almost silhouetted against a super vibrant background, and I had so so so much fun stylizing that willow tree how it ended up. This also has some of my favorite color palettes I've ever designed for the comics. Basically, it's really cute and I like it a lot.

Aux Cord

I ALSO RAELLY LOVE THIS COMIC!! I'm really happy with how the colors came out. I've been trying to push myself to use a lot more saturated colors, since I was so drawn to using super gray tones for most of my life for some reason. This comic is one that I wrote very recently to bridge a gap that was supposed to be a number of other comics! There was supposed to be a series of 4 or 5 comics that would have been the car ride back in Drive, where Kip and Duncan's friendship would bloom over the course of the ride. I ended up scrapping this idea, 'cause I took a big break from the comic, and when I returned, I needed to advertise for the plushies, so I thought it'd be better to make a few comics that were about Duncan and Eddie. I ended up redoing a lot of what I wrote for Kip and Duncan, but I have the next 16 or so comics planned out, we'll definitely see a bit more of their dynamic (and maybe the start of something else ;) )

There's also tons of references in the names of the songs! I had a lot of fun writing these. Your biology - I'm OK(not) is a reference to MCR - I'm Not Okay, dopie is a reference to dodie, Lofty is a reference to Laufey, and bitski is a reference to mitski! There's also some REALLY niche references in here. Wet Garages with a guitar hitting a baseball is a nod to blaseball's own Garages team, who have a fan-made album and Lazy Cat - Sat-on Cotton Candy is an insanely niche reference to a quote from lazy villagers in Animal Crossing: City Folk when they're sad, who say "I feel like cotton candy that's just been sat on." There's only two lazy cat villagers in animal crossing, being Punchy and Bob, who are my and my sister's favorite villagers respectively! Those last two references are more there for myself, but it's fun to sneak in things for yourself from time to time.
