Development Diary #40

Hi guys!

The development of the penultimate update of Space Paws is going quite fine. Remember that in this update you'll be able to do Vyl Daemith's Ending and also Alison's in VD's mothership/planet.
For us, this will be a "romantic" achievement because in this update you'll be able to do everything we had in mind when we imagined Space Paws (still without epilogues, though). And this update will mean that we got to do an ambitious project with a decent quality with a decent plot and make our contribution to enrich the Adult Games panorama on the web (Harem Ending is a plus, a very good and welcomed plus to our main idea of Space Paws :P )

This was our objective, and we think that with the last update of SP we'll accomplish it.
But this is our first step. After SP, we want to make another step forward. We don't want to make another "decent" game but a very good one. Now we have the resources and the skills needed to make something (we hope) better than Space Paws. Of course, all this is thanks to your support and patience during all this time.

Ok, I think I'm beating around the bush. The point of the development of the update v0.94 of Space Paws is:

*This is an H-scene that we've added to the development of the update due to a Comission

So I would say that we're more or less halfway of its development.
Remember that on March 1st we'll delete the 150$ tier (we won't add H-scenes that haven't been requested before this date). We talked about it on the previous development diary, but in summary, we do this just to make sure we'll finish the game relatively soon (some months).

And that's it.
Thanks again for being there, guys.

Honestly, compared to all the other games out there, this has to be my favorite by far. A lot of nice content was added and you can see the difference in overall quality improving too. Not only that, but just you as devs have been excellent...you provide quality content in a timely manner, keep us updated, and strive to be better. I've seen devs that constantly postpone content, or fall off the grid randomly, or even break promises and abandon content altogether. I can honestly say tht I really look forward to what y'all do next, and to the final scenes of SP ;)

We're really happy to see that the most of you're happy with the way we work. Most of our "hey! there's room for improvement" is because of Flash. It's a software we manage quite well, but in many ways, obsolete, and this affects to the final result. It's one of the reasons why we want to finish SP. Without rush but without hesitation. When we released v.0.10 we warned that that was a crude alpha and it some way, was the worst we could do. And I think the time has proved that point. We've improved. That's why, without pressure, without understimating what we've done, we know that there's still room for improvement :)

Saving is an option, Allen. After playing it a few times, you can find a few different points that fit what you describe. There are a couple of routes that overlap, so it's helpful to know which way to go first. With that said, you can actually play all four routes, within the day constraint of the game. This is the optimal way to reach the endings with Allison. That's also a save point. Then you can go back and play all four endings.

I think we can all understand your perspective on Space Paws. While you label it "decent", we've watched the game, and you two, evolve as developers and artists! You need to be reminded of just how much we've seen! The early versions were, yes, a little less inspiring than Space Paws is today, BUT it was still more than "decent". Give yourselves a little credit! Sure, there are other folks that have been out there longer. I'd be willing to bet they're not two people working closely together to create the best content they can. You two have made amazing progress over the last couple of years! I don't think it would matter what you were producing, you'd still have the integrity that keeps your fans supporting you. You engage with your patrons, you share the good days with the not so good. We really do appreciate how much you communicate! Yours was the first site for which I became a patron. I have not changed my mind along the way, nor will I. The future looks bright from where I sit.

This is my favorite game. My only complaint is that when you finish a route you have to go back to the beginning, and start over. It would be better in my opinion to save at a set point and be able to go back to it and play a different route.

Tip: creator delivers what you expect? Keep supporting creator doesn't deliver what they promised? Reconsider your support (or support just when they release the content you want). That's why I believe that, if some people is giving you money before they receive what they expect, you have to be transparent with them.

I'd say more then a good first step. Id say something legitimately ground breaking, and just the first of greater things to come by y'alls indications. You should be proud of making something great, no ifs ands or buts. And if you just say its decent, we'll split the difference and say this was a learning experience with room for improvement. But speaking for myself, and Id wager no small number of fellow supporters, we're damn proud of everything you've done, and eagerly await what comes next.

Decent because, as far as I know and before Patreon existed, there wasn't many english good Adult games, in my opinion. And when I say games I mean that: games, not short flash projects. The most of the really good adult games were from Japan, where an industry working on this genere even before the most of us were born exists. There are great studios that made and make great games (Jellyfish, Illusion or Alicesoft). These are, in our opinion, examples of studios with good adult games. So, in comparison with them Space Paws is a decent game. A good first step if you prefer ;)

You guys set your goals, and then met them time and time again with great transparency and communication with the patrons. Which is infinitely better than some of the other patrons out there which siphon your money month after month *cough*CloudMeadow*cough* but barely have anything to show for it after 3 years. Or generally just have really slow updates (Shoutout to monster girl island). Thank you so much for everything you've done for this project and I hope I have the pleasure of continuing to be a patron for your next one.

You guys met your goals, and actually stuck to your development time frame.

A decent game? Guys this game is fantastic.
