Why is my pledge declined?
Added 2018-09-07 11:01:31 +0000 UTCDuring August and especially now in September you may be experiencing some issues with your pledges. We've noticed that the number of declined pledges has grown significantly this month.
We'll try to explain what's going on and what you can do to solve this.
Why is my pledge declined?
Patreon has recently changed some of their partners for processing your pledges. So now instead of an American bank, they have switched to a UK bank that is now the reponsible for processing all the adult pledges.
That's why some banks are declyning your pledges, because a bank from the UK trying to charge you some money sounds fraudulent to them.
Why is this happening?
If you ask Patreon, they will say that these changes are caused by "external forces".
We've just investigated a bit more and some sources explain that Patreon received some pressions from their processing partners for helping Adult Creators. That's why they needed to find and alternative for adult creators.
Ok, but what can I do to solve this?
You can:
-Talk to your bank and tell them Patreon is not fraudulent.
-Update you payment info ( maybe there's missing information. If you have Paypal, that should solve your problem).
-Try to use a different credit card for you pledges on Patreon.
