Development diary #5
Added 2016-06-24 20:06:21 +0000 UTC2 weeks ago we started working on the game again and its new update. The idea is that, in this new update, you'll be able to date with Nebet in 2 places. And we're working to have ready at least 1 animated H-scene on one of those dates.
We're working as well on a minigame that we hope it'll be ready for this update.
Besides the cat planet, there'll be other additions. You'll be able to read the chapter 2 of Alison's diary (with a new animated H-scene).
Plus, we've recently made a poll asking for some backgrounds on the Dogs' planet that need a rework/more detail. According to the results of this poll, you'll see in this update a more detailed and worked landing zone. That's the first step of the process. We want all backgrounds with a similar quality to the Egyptian backgrounds. So in every update we'll try to redo at least one of these backgrounds. We probably only bring one rework per update in order not to affect the usual development of the cat's planet.
And the best for last. We're considering to use a new system of animations. This system, as the other, has its pros and cons. But in general, it will allow us to make more detailed and fully colored animations, and the possibility of bringing several changes in a scene itself. We hope in the next "Development Diary" we
can confirm if this system is finally implemented. For the moment, we share with you some links of animated gifs that use this system (of course they're not ours, just to clarify it).
As you can check, they're full colored, with detailed shadows and lights, unlike our current system, that make us use fewer colors:

Ok, let's just see how this new system you're talking about stacks up to the current animations 8D

2016-06-27 12:06:24 +0000 UTCWell, the animations that are already implemented aren't 100% frame by frame either, we also used some tweens for some elements, so we'll try to keep this combination and make the movements as realistic as possible :)

2016-06-27 10:36:21 +0000 UTCSo are you talking about tweening? If so, then it's good for you, and if it's done well, it could work. Either way, tween or fbf, it'll still suck if it's done badly :@

2016-06-25 01:47:55 +0000 UTCYess, the interactivity will be the same :) The main negative aspect is that there might be people that prefer the frame-by-frame animation, As we said to Marcus, we have to try and consider if it's worth it or not.

2016-06-24 23:29:23 +0000 UTCWell, that depends on the drawing style and the way it's animated. We have to try and see if we like it, and of course, see if people like it. Right now we think it's a good idea, but we'll see it better with our own animations rather than examples.

2016-06-24 23:22:43 +0000 UTCSounds good! Will scenes using the new system still be interactive? Anything that improves the quality is a plus but there are always trade offs. Looking forward to the next update, fer sure :D

2016-06-24 23:18:23 +0000 UTCWhile I do like the fluidity of motion, for some reason those particular gifs you posted go a little far into the uncanny valley for me. Would using this new system mean that your work takes on similar qualities?
