They called her crazy, spineless etc cuz she started dating him and this song is basically towards those people who tell themselves they’re fans but not really cuz they try to control her life and have a say in it. And when she doesn’t do what they want, they start attacking her. When they started dating, some “fans” were saying that it was only cuz she was “sad” about the breakup with joe and that she was having a mental breakdown to go so low as to date matty. And they made a “signed letter”🙄 basically telling her how what she was doing was wrong and that they were “sad” and felt “bad” for her and blah blah blah. That ‘s why she says “you don’t get to tell me you fell bad” and “you don’t get to tell me you feel sad”. Honestly I tried to ignore those comments during that time cuz it was giving parasocial weirdos. The letter also mentions how “it was not about her, they loved her and weren’t doing it to hurt her” which is why she says in the song “So tell me everything is not about me But what if it is? Then say they didn't do it to hurt me But what if they did?” it was brutal honestly. She was really mad at them here that’s why she’s like “I wanna snarl and show you just how disturbed this has made me You wouldn't last an hour in the asylum where they raised me” asylum meaning the public eye/music industry. And she also says “Is it a wonder I broke? Let's hear one more joke Then we could all just laugh until I cry” because of all the jokes they made online about her being crazy, spineless, that she needed to be committed and needed to think etc etc. they were more graphic things but im not sure I can say it here. And the part were she says “You caged me and then you called me crazy I am what I am 'cause you trained me So who's afraid of me?” Yea, again she just basically calling out the “fans” or as she refers to them in but daddy i love him, “vipers in empaths clothing” she was calling them out for caging her and then calling her crazy, how every little thing they’ve said over the years trained her and made her what she is, so why would they be afraid of her now. That’s why she keeps repeating who’s afraid of little old me? Why would you be afraid, You made this? But yea, if I can find a pic of the signed letter i’ll send it to you guys in the chat but I doubt it cuz I tried to ignore all that stuff during that time. It was brutal if you tried telling them that it didn’t matter if they didn’t like matty, they had no right to choose who she dates they would just go feral so I kinda just disconnected for a bit. if that was me, imagine all that they said to her. That also ties to when in but daddy i love him she says “God save the most judgmental creeps Who say they want what's best for me Sanctimoniously performing soliloquies I'll never see Thinking it can change the beat Of my heart when he touches me And counteract the chemistry And undo the destiny You ain't gotta pray for me” And also “If all you want is gray for me, Then it's just white noise, And it's just my choice” grey being sadness etc suggesting how miserable she was in the relationship with joes she says so in you’re losing me. White noise meaning she can’t hear it. But yea, hope this helped.
