Totally agree. The performances were enough to carry this without all the extra special effects. Plus it was really built on the uncomfortable feelings of suspense and concern for what would happen next, moreso than the acts themselves, if that makes sense. As tough as some scenes were, I'm really happy I was introduced to this one!

I'm also a big fan of the somewhat understated way in which the powers are portrayed. Conveying a sense of raw power without a lot of bells and whistles. .
