2024-07-05 12:29:33 +0000 UTCHey, answer about them washing their hands after they left the cemetery - In Maori culture we consider death 'tapu' (sacred) so when you enter a cemetery you are entering a realm of death so you are surrounded by tapu. When you leave the cemetary you wash your hands to wash away the tapu and make yourself 'noa' again (Ordinary or free from tapu). Nga Mihi!
