Buck, Winnie, and their dog Chip… used to be at Harrah’s in Vegas, and now they are gone in an effort to “de-theme” the strip. But where does kitch art like this end up when there are few places that respect the style at all? One of the few organizations that focus on historic preservation in Las Vegas, the Neon Museum, would have been my guess!!! But, alas, after a few weeks of trying to track them down, the Neon Musuem confirmed with me today that they were given the opportunity to take them in but DECLINED due to a limited amount of indoor display space… So where are Buck, Winnie, and Chip now??? If whoever had them before had the idea to bring them into the Neon Museum in the first place, I am assuming they care about them. But that assumption is all I have to go on as of now… The Neon Museum said they will look into it further to see who it was that reached out to them. I will not stop my pursuit until I find out they are safe though… Whether or not I have to take restoration into my own hands is to be determined. You may have been disrespected and discarded by Las Vegas, just like the Tropicana, but you have people fighting for your safety, sweet Greenbacks! 💔
