The event and subsequent emergence of the Azologoth were biblical in scale, so naturally certainly beliefs came to fruition around those events.
The beliefs vary but case in point, Nitoc offers guidance to both Caterina and The Mistress.
No one understands the creatures more than Nitoc.
In fact the Mistress and Caterina speak face to face while attending Nitoc.
