Generally if you're going to wear purple, stay out of controlled territory, without a pass or escort the companies will come down on you like tonne of bricks.

Neon Dark extractions still happen, but with the risk of getting eaten, people are not interested in that so much.

The Companies are the ones who press the units into that, sacrificing them to gain the element.

Marauders operate on the fringe, moving in to attack extraction parties from all companies. Hitting them leaving with Neon Dark. Splitting the "loot" and making away with it.

This is where the money comes from. The whole set up needs cash to work.

Cash for food, weapons, clothes, equipment, everything. Absolutely everything.

in the uncontested zones there are more creature comforts, illicit substances, alcohol, games, entertainment you name it.

Who are the IO's? Ex company combat units for the most part. A few brave amateurs come in to "experience" the zone.

Many of those get robbed, ripped off or taken out.

Its not a place for the soft.

Salty, hardened ex combatants run the place. Women with years in the boots of either Caterina or the Mistress.

Women who have seen everything the Island can throw at a person.

Working extensively in extraction duties she decided to sell her services in finding Azologoth. Carrying a Luminometer detect the known substances in Azologoth breach sites.

Azologoth excrete the same liquifying substance to weaken ground to breach the surface as Earth liquefiers.

Ground samples at sites can give an indication of where they will breach.

The information is passed onto clients.

While the companies use sounding equipment, the ground samples are more accurate.

Azologoth patrols work well also, they have the added bonus of presence. But this is only in their territory or contested zones.

In the uncontested zones, Black Faction uses contractors or they bring in their own extraction specialists if they are looking to perform the extractions there.

But they certainly don't want uncontrolled outflow of Neon Dark nor do they want the supply depleted there.

Therefor under the Mistresses charter, she banned anything to do with Azologoth exploration.
