"It was R&G in the dark"

On the way back from the last mission, these ones are always creepy.

Got sent to a abandoned access shaft for the lower tunnels. Azologoth rich we were told. 

They lost contact with the extraction team earlier so we were sent in to find the Neon Dark

They don't care about the team or us. We just need to find that stuff and we can come back

They didn't brief us on it nor do they ever. I overheard the Commander talking in a doorway just outside the Marshalling area.

To top it off apparently where we are is unstable, they think its the rift opening up rather than an earth liquefier. I hope its the former.

Rumours are when you go into the rift you end up in the Azologoth home dimension. 

Not a place I really wanna go, but if its the option between liquid earth and that, Ill take the rift because at least ill be able to see where those things come from before passing into the abyss. 

Personal preference would be getting rounded by V-Corp or CPD, like a true warrioress, in a skirm so I can at least have half an opportunity to take some with me. 

ZT90 landed on a concrete pad near the entrance. There was a rotunda committed to the extraction and a good portion were strewn around the entrance. We counted 8 but I it looked like they had their backs to the wall. 

They had already been looted, bits and pieces were missing, mainly packs and gas, ammo etc. 

Looks like the work of rogues, command unit said they were former Shadow Sector or pirate groups, organised crime or possibly contractors. 

If it were V-Corp or CPD there would be some of those expended atleast. 

We moved in, bodies lining the corridors, we counted up to 36 total now. Fire looks like it came from both directions. 

We got to a room, where we found the final 4, looks as though they were gassed in there. 

We found the Neon Dark pouch, it had residue in it but the Neon Dark was gone. 40 out of 42 found......commander is assuming the other 2 were eaten by the Azologoth.

Then we heard footsteps. Commander told us to go after them straight away. We just took off into the dark. 

All we heard was a really high rate of fire and we were getting hit by really small rounds. They stung like hell, I got 5 or 6, others got some more. 

We fired back into the dark, at nothing.

This went on for 15 minutes, chasing down the corridor. 

The commander called us back screaming "get the fuck back here now"

They were rogues, trying to stretch us out to ambush us.

When I got back to the commander 4 were expended and they were under effective fire. 

She called in the ZT90 which was circling above, we ran back out of the building and the we were taking fire from the trees. 

Lucky that ZT90 got down quick we all got on it, one was expended before she could get on the ZT90 took off and another was hit, she fell out from about 20ft.

The ground she landed on splashed and she disappeared. 

When we got back the site manager called the commander a coward, ripped her beret off and took her jacket. 

"Go get ORC implanted, you're demoted"

Over at the Marshalling area there was a Cache loading up into a Moose.

The site manager turned to us and said

"return to standby quarters, rest up you will probably be going back later"

I wish I could go back now.
