4 years as a civilian
Added 2025-03-16 13:26:37 +0000 UTCMost of you know my story but to reiterate I am happy for my time in, and use the lessons I learned in the army in my day to day.
After a bit of a rough transition from military to civilian I gotta say I am happy to be a civilian. I own my own small business and on the creative side have a lot of fun as well.
I wanna say thank you to all the veterans out there. :)

2025-03-17 06:20:10 +0000 UTCI just told everyone that they just didn't want anyone else's berets on Post, I figured as many Russians we had running around that they would know that ladies couldn't be SF..least not back then...tankers and cav used to wear one back then too...in black...Rangers got that fixed, then turned around and lost the black to whatever that sad colour they wear now is...he 10th Mtn was petitioning DA to be authorized Airborne but all the other units was jealous of us so it never happened...they had a rust colored beret with the Mtn tab...had Rangers come over and teach us how to beret properly...back then you had to cut a liner out, shave both sides til it was thin, run it throw very hot water, put it on, shape it and let it dry, then learn how to fold it to fit in the cargo pocket...taught us how to Ranger roll our patrol caps too...ahhh...the good ole days....

2025-03-17 00:25:54 +0000 UTCI left for so many reasons. If I hadn't been hurt I may have stayed for another year or two, but I was supposed to take a Task Force Command in Egypt before I got hurt. It would have been hard to be away from Alex for a year.

2025-03-16 16:57:23 +0000 UTCThanks to you both for your Service ma'am...seeing the 3rd Grp flash on the raspberry beret reminds me of one time in Bad Toelz Germany where I was in a class and while going through the Mess line, a female cook was wearing the Green beanie with the 10th flash (this was in the mid 80's) and we got to talking and I asked her how she managed to get through SF as a female and she said she didn't but that the 10th wouldn't allow the wear of anything else except for in the field when it was patrol cap or boonie hat...back then between them and the unspeakable Berlin gang, everything was to try and confuse the Russians so with all the support troops wearing them, made them look twice the size...
