Around the House and Kitchen
Added 2024-11-28 15:02:54 +0000 UTCGood morning. I ended up running 3.5 miles this morning, even though I was planning on taking a day off. I made breakfast for everyone, now I’m having some coffee writing this post :)
I’m cooking all day today. Happy thanksgiving everyone. For my non American friends it’s our thanksgiving holiday. It’s really just an excuse to get off work, but some people take some time to be thankful for things in their life. Without sounding too cheesy, I’m thankful for Alex and my family. Im thankful to have made a nice transition out of the military, and I’m also thankful for friends and supporters like you all.
Sometimes Alex pokes fun at me on days like these. Last year we went to my parent’s small house, I spent the day cooking while Alex and the rest of my family went out hiking or doing some recreational shooting. (Target practice) I did get out for a few shots. I love shooting a .22, I tried shooting a .45 and nearly broke my wrists. I never get offended by kitchen jokes for women. I believe women should be care givers sometimes, and in the workforce other times.
Random story: When we were dating Alex and I got to a tour from someone we knew of the Atlanta Zoo. (Alex is from that area) they took us back stage to the feed the lions and tigers. We saw a lion chilling while his lioness was sitting behind him licking hose mane. Alex laughed and said that looks like the life. I told Alex when we got married I wanted to be a lioness for him. Hunt, caregive, and pleasure giver, with the occasional emotional breakdown 😂 I’ll do it all. I also just very much need to be busy. I get anxious otherwise. I say all that to say that’s why it may seem like I never take a break.
Also random, how fun is that wine decanter? If I drank and had silly girl parties I’d totally get that vase haha. I considered getting it for a photoshoot but it may be too crude.

2024-11-30 10:48:24 +0000 UTCthe few times I fired it in Georgia, I liked it...I'm still thinking about getting a 5.56/.223 just cause ammo is a little less expensive and easier to find...same with switching out to 9mm too...I kinda wonder if there is a lot of difference in the AR vs bolt action 6.8 SPC...

2024-11-29 21:43:19 +0000 UTCJohn, I've been a fan of the 6.8 SPC since it was first introduced for commercial use around 2008 or so. With a 110 grain bullet it is a very capable deer cartridge from what I have read although my use has been limited to target shooting so far with an 18" barrel AR upper. It definitely has more punch than the 5.56x45 or .223 Remington as well as much less recoil than the 7.62x51 or .308 Winchester.

2024-11-29 21:26:17 +0000 UTCnowhere to shoot around here, specially for the rifle...had a armorer friend at the Marksmanship Unit at Benning let me know the Army was switching to the 6.8 SPC so he made me a custom AR in it...haven't been able to shoot it since I moved up here...grew up in the Army with the .45 (1911 and M3A1) and even though I hit Expert with the M9, never could get used to the feel of it in my hand...I currently run a .40 S&W for my vehicle travel piece and a .38 S&W revolver for carry...also own the prerequisite.22, 12 Guage and .50 Blackpowder...miss being able to use the military installations gun ranges...
