Behind the scenes of Funfair: 2015 timeline of events
Added 2024-09-28 15:45:07 +0000 UTCThe first few parts of Funfair haven't changed drastically over time. Banjo spills ice cream on himself, Conker has fantasies about it. They go to a pool, Conker has fantasies again... The sequence of events was changed slightly, but the general idea was still there.
The parts after were pretty different, though! Going as far as 2015, the third arc of the story had Conker go to the arcade, but instead of having a nightmare, he simply picks a machine to play and the game becomes altered by his fantasies, once again. Instead of a joystick, he's grabbing Banjo's dick, and I'm pretty sure the screen was a nice shot of his face and upper body. (I'd probably play a game like that... as I'm sure some of you would.)
This is all fun and good, but at the same time, there's little character development – Funfair was just the chronicles of Conker's dirty thoughts with a happy ending. No emotional intrigue, no suspense...
The parts after are pretty much a quick succession of scenes from the rest of their day – that component did make it to the final version, although the scenes themselves are very different. They go to the restrooms, and Conker has glory-hole-filled fantasies... Conker imagines Banjo on a big movie screen... Conker tries to ride Banjo's lap while they're in a rollercoaster... Typical stuff.
Frankly, I don't remember where the last part takes place in this iteration, but they straight up get naked and openly reminisce about their childhood. It's sweet in a way, but this story doesn't do a good job of representing their emotional progression, so this sudden reminiscence at the end feels completely out of place. No wonder why I didn't keep this for long!
This script is riddled with holes, so you might have to read over a few times to get what's going on. Again, this was very much a work in progress!

They're pretty brazen for having a serious talk, naked, in an amusement park of all places... I'll say that much. They're pretty unbothered. XD

2025-01-05 08:24:22 +0000 UTCDang these guys got it on over the whole park! Impressive haha. I like all the little fun scenes, and I enjoy a good gloryhole situation a lot too. Also something about chatting about serious stuff with a pal while you're both naked has a really special charm to it too.

2024-12-30 21:38:54 +0000 UTCThis will be evident later down the line as I show off more, but yes, when I started what would be the final version of Funfair, I knew more or less where I wanted the story to go. However, several sections were revised as I went along because the original idea was not as impactful as I wanted it to be. There wasn't a fake-out ending at the end of part 4. Part 3 wasn't set to be a nightmare until I was done with part 1. Part 5's setup was quite different, although the idea behind it is more or less the same. I'm fully aware that Funfair is messy in terms of pacing, ha ha. It is, after all, the fruit of several years not of focused deliberation, but of several years of going back and forth with my own ideas.

The first 2-3 parts are a little disjointed compared to the final chapter, where most of the character development occurs. Since it took nearly 5 years to complete the comic (with lengthy breaks in between each chapter), I assume you made changes to the story as long the way.
