Someone dutifully closes the windows.

Hey, is this an AA meeting for deceased monks? Talk about dead silence!!"

"Aaaaaany-hoo...
My name's Andrew! Not Drumstick, I kid you not!
I know the guy before said 'Drumstick', but he's an asshole. Don't listen to him."
"I'm 36, AND...! Er, I'm... also single!
I'm the happy dad of one, troublemaking little girl!
Birds, you know how they are... Well, how WE are!"
"I'd love to talk about her, but... she made me promise I wouldn't.
... I told her, 'Daddy's not good with promises, kid!'
And then she smacked me. That's why I'm red in the face. Can't you tell!

2024-08-03 14:22:25 +0000 UTCD: "My favourite memory... Favourite memory... There's so many! Eating at the cafeteria with the kids, playing around with the water hose... Meeting the kids for the first time... (Actually no... that time was pretty rough...) Okay, so there was this one time... It was in the middle of July, and I remember there were shooting stars that night - Perseids, I think they're called. It's a LOT of shooting stars, and I thought, like... Man, I wanna go see that with the kids. It wasn't planned or anything, so just... around 10:00PM, after we'd tucked them in bed, I decide to go and rally them up. They looked dead tired, and it was really hot out too... But, we hiked for a bit to our usual lake area, since you can see the sky better... They weren't too happy about being dragged out of bed, so I was having second thoughts, but we went there anyway. And then we watched the shooting stars on the pier. You could see the reflections on the water too, it was a beautiful show. They got really into it, and we had a heart-to-heart as a group... We talked about what we wanted in life. At first, it was like... "I want a space ship!" and stuff. But, after a couple, I started hearing... "I wish my mom and dad would stop fighting." And, "I wish I was a kid forever." And that got me. Life just ain't what it's cracked up to be sometimes. Kids know that, and it's... It make me care about them a lot more. We all slept on the pier. We were very sore in the morning, but I think they were all happy to get it off their chests. I know I was too."
