Secret Garden

As I have said before, my strengths in photography are in lighting, not so much in posing. When it is just Steph and I, I feel more free to create in terms of posing and I do not feel rushed. When others are involved I usually have an assistant or Steph ( if she is not modeling) help me with posing, especially if nudity is involved. I will not come near a nude model out of respect for their boundaries but also mine.
Fortunately on this shoot I knew the models and we were all comfortable working together. However I still found myself focused on the composition and lighting. I was giving them very little direction in terms of how I wanted them to pose or my vision. I did give them a creative brief prior to shooting. I told them they were magical naked fairy's or elves and they were having a meeting in the secret garden.. okay lets go.
Steph knows I get quite while I create, so she stepped in and started posing for me which was nice. The other models followed suit. Then at some point V (the blonde model) leaned over as if she was telling a secret. I really liked that pose so I asked them all to go back to that one, which got me the shots above.

2023-02-08 06:20:29 +0000 UTCI do feel your pain when it comes to posing directions. And in this day and age, I definitely get the whole boundary respecting. It is way too easy to get a reputation destroyed in seconds over a well meant gesture. And sadly enough, there are a bunch of predatory photographers who ruin it for the ones that try to do things right and respect their models.
