Spartan 1- How we got the helmet

I was going to post on our second photoshoot we ever did, but came across this old shoot, again from 2018.

At this point I was working small photography jobs and appealing to clients for my use of lighting. People did not want to use me so much for formal or corporate work but rather "different" or creative type shoots mainly for social media.

One of my first jobs I got was this set. The client, is and was, a professional competitive sharpshooter for sport. She reached out to me and wanted fun but dramatic photos she could use to promote events on her social media. Her concept was her as a modern day spartan.. I was trying to picture it but was having difficulties understanding her concept.

We made a mood board and came up with her wearing a spartan helmet she bought, and some tactical gear her friends in the industry provided. The client asked for Steph to be involved after seeing some of our shoots I was starting to post on IG. I wanted there to be 3 models to allow more emphasis on the client. So the client hired Steph and our friend Val to be in the shoot as well. She already had her Spartan helmet but quickly found 2 other cheap plastic helmets so the other models would have something to wear. Steph volunteered to do makeup.

Over the course of the morning I got the client a lot of photos that she requested. We felt like we got the shots then spent the afternoon getting fun shots. These are the ones she allowed me to share.

Throughout the course of the shoot, Steph once again caught my eye. She looked fit and bad ass, even though she is not that bad ass lol, she puts on a good show.

After the shoot, the client gave me her helmet, and I gave it to Steph. That next weekend I took some solo shots of Steph with the spartan look, then at the end got some nude looks. Val joined us for part of the weekend and where I got the "Falling Ladies" photo.

It would be a year later I would do the actual spartan shoot with Steph "Spartan Queen"
