This was a full production shoot, which meant I set aside a budget, planned a mood board, hired a model and an assistant, paid for a location, bought small items like makeup, body oil, the one piece suits, then lastly took an hour of the 3 hours we had to shoot to set up the lighting, and stage a scene.
I managed to give a creative brief to Steph and KK, whom I had never worked with before, but the idea was Steph gets her ass kicked.
We did photos and videos; I was pretty happy with how these came out, but felt rushed. I needed another hour or two, to bring more of the narrative I had planned to life.
I used a 50mm 1.2 at around f/1.4 and a 16-35mm 2.8 at f/2.8-4. For the lighting I used x2 Aputure 300x, and 1 Aputure 120D all hard light to add to the gritty vibes of combat sports.
If time allowed I would of loved to try strobes instead of continuous light, but I did not want to complicate the production process or get 2 different looks from the same shoot. I wanted a cinematic portrait feel to these shots.
What are your thoughts? Any photo in particular stand out?
