There is an overall message in this post but first...I've mentioned before how open and supportive Steph is on being open and embracing nudity in a respectful fashion for either appreciation of one's self, fitness, art, or sexuality.
I think she does it in a way that doesn't flaunt; without sounding too judgmental, because everyone has a form of expressing themself, but social media has a way of making it easy to show off without putting any or much effort into the meaning behind it all.
Steph won't get on some trend on tiktok or IG, (I unfortunately, tried to get her to do that at one point) She would rather just be her self. She reminds me she does not want to be a trend, or have some clothing define her, or make thirst traps, although that could be up for debate.
She enjoys being nude, taking care of her body, and making art we live in a world that does not support that lifestyle mainstream. I think society is being way more open, especially giving more room to females wanting to express themselves, but now we have the question of how to best present ones form of expression.
The pictures above may seem as if she's saying "Hey look at me with no clothes" but in reality, if you know anything about us, that is a common sight at our house.
She came into the studio/gym after doing some errands, asking if she'd bother me while I was editing if she could do a 20 minute workout. I said it was no problem, and she took off her clothes and worked out. I snapped a few cell phone photos.
I may be getting a little deep here but I have noticed a huge shift in how content is delivered and made since I started 5 years ago. It seems more and more models I used to work with now do not want to take the time to plan a shoot, come in and work for 2 hours on a solid look with lighting design, make up, wardrobe, set design and an overall narrative. They would rather have cell phone photos they can quickly make a reel, tiktok with, apply a skin smoothing filter and some other flashy effects, adding a trending song, have cleavage showing and competing with the latest thirst trap trend simply for views and likes.
I actively want to fight agains this as an artist. I will lose that fight but at least I can stay true to how I want to create. I'm honestly getting tired of IG, and would rather focus on a premium site to deliver content more focused on my style and not a trend.
Do you think our current culture of social media is forcing creatives hands in the kind of content they make? Do you think as social media progresses trends will take over creativity?
