Yesterday's shoot ended with these looks. I really liked her posing, and her delicate movements. It's hard to describe or visually showcase how beautiful she is. Maybe, I am just biased.
I'll break down the process for our shoot yesterday for those interested in the process:
1. Plan: make an effort to get out and shoot based on a plan you made prior. In our case we make Saturday or Sunday or creative days to photoshoot. Having a plan requires some self discipline, but you are more likely to at least start something if you have a plan. In your plan include a theme (mood board), ideas, wardrobe, lighting set up, other photos you like, etc. don't make it too complicated to start just some notes on your phone or on a notebook will do.
2. Make it fun: It's your passion, don't forget why you started. Be easy on yourself, have fun, laugh, make mistakes, try new things, don't compare yourself to others in your field, but rather be inspired by them to create on your terms and style.
3. Execute: In our case I asked Steph a few days prior if she still wanted to shoot. She seemed hesitant, as she had a busy week. I initially got a little irritated with her lack of commitment, but I understood she was tired. She new it was important to me (and her) so she agreed. In an effort to make it fun, I took her to get a coffee and a light lunch. We talked about simple looks we could easily do in our home studio. We then went to a thrift store and a couple other places and got a few looks (not spending much at all). We got home, and she got ready, while I set up the studio. I asked her not to put much make up on at all.
We then photographed several outfits (some of which I posted yesterday), with a variety of lighting setups, and ended with the nude looks as usual. The nude looks I wanted to emphasis curves with lighting as I did in photo number 4. I will eventually make a whole series on this style.
Once we finished, I data dumped my CFexpress card (I took video too) and edited a few preview photos just to see what I got.
4: Evaluate: Lastly, look over your photos, take your time, analyze what went right and what went wrong. Again, in this case, for the photos provided so far; I would shot at a higher F stop with more light for more sharp, crisp lines and enhanced details. I would of had Steph relax a little more and not look so stiff. Additionally, for the series I want to do, similar to "Bodyscapes" just not so close in, I think I would ask her to shave. She has very little body hair but intensely thick pubic hair that I think is artistic, but also distracting at times. I liked that we used a body spray that helped her skin and contours stand out. The single light set up was a win in my opinion as well.
Let me know what you think about the photos and the series so far. I love the feedback.
