POV: "A Night and Morning with Her"

An artsy erotic take on my POV (perspective). I tried to keep this as artistic as possible, while bringing an artistic sexual undertone. 

One question I always ask myself when I have a creative block, or idea, is why did I pick up a camera to begin with? She's been my muse and subject for years, and we have never done an erotic type shoot partly because we don't want to sway outside of the art world and into another, but also there is a lot of negativity around erotic art. As you know I am confused myself on the matter, having done very little research or any work involving the subject. But I have polled the audience on this platform to get an idea of what fellow artists and observers think. 

With the discussions and my opinion in mind, so far here is my take...

Sexuality is a function of life. Accepted art forms like, poems, songs, literature, cinema and painting depict sex, but photos especially run the risk of focusing more on sex than the art; which in this case is her form and beauty, youth and sexuality and this particular point in time.

I want to remember her as she is and as she was, so there is purpose behind these photos. I want to appreciate her beauty, her sexuality. I want to present this as art to the right audience. Obviously, if this were a movie or a game it would be meant for or restricted to a certain audience. 

Furthermore, less understood, is the bond of creating such work together. It kindles a positive relationship when it comes to sex for couples. A woman want's to be appreciated, sometimes she does not appreciate herself, and may need some help. Steph, has struggled with her image before, but I always try to lift her mood. (it's not all about looks) When you see your partner you also see the history together, the moments, emotions and the aspects others do not see to include sex.  

I tried to paint a simple narrative from my perspective, so i used an iPhone 12 for all these shots not my mirrorless, I used all practical lighting, no designated lights. None are edited other than desaturating to keep the distracting and inconsistent colors out of the narrative, I added a little grain to counter the iPhone's auto smoothing features. Some of these shots were taken at 6am with window light, so the phone automatically shoots at a very low shutter speed in low light, which accounts for some of the blur in the photos. Other wise this is a real take of what I saw last night and this morning. This was not planned, nor was any shot posed. I did get her permission to take the photos and videos ( some of these are screen grabs). 

I had to use some restraint in terms of what I included in this gallery. I felt I could take it way to far... One aspect I wanted to capture was arousal. This is the tricky part. In some photos she is obviously stimulated. I don't think I fully captured the extent of her sexuality. 

I have seen photographers take on projects where they capture the peak of arousal. (Patreon terms won't allow certain words) to me this was a cheap excuse to create art, but really there are (most likely) other intentions. I was not a fan of that kind of work. I guess you can try spin it as art but to me it is not art, and if you try to make it art then it's just really awkward. However, I was tempted in this case to showcase her very powerful state of arousal, but decided that was too far, and while I am very open to showcasing her beauty, there are some things that should remain between us. 

This shoot was on 2.22.22 and 2.23.22

I had been working a wedding all day, 2.22.22 having significance for the new couple.

I got home and Steph and I just relaxed. We cooked dinner, and had a glass or 2 of red wine as we do each night. (It has to be Cabernet) 

We talked about our day, I quickly edited some preview photos from the wedding. 

We watched some youtube on current events, camera and filmmaking stuff, and then turned on a movie.

Steph put her feet on my lap and I reluctantly started giving her foot rub's. She asked if I thought her feet were too small (something we commonly laugh about) because they are very small for her body and height. She balance issues as a result, even saw a foot doctor as ridiculous as it sounds. Anyway, that prompted me to take a photo (photo #2). She kissed me, and got on top of me, I took her shirt off (photo #3-4) ... ... 

Around 545 we woke up. We have a large window in our room that let the emerging sunrise slowly come in. She turned over to hold me for a while until the snooze alarm went off again. I got up and looked at her, thinking she was really pretty today. So I told her that, and asked if I could take a photo, she nodded. (Photo 5)

She was a little more slow that usual to get out of bed so I kept taking a few photos. (Photo #6-7)

I got back in bed and started rubbing her back, she kissed me again, and got on top of me and we took turns holding and caressing each other. (Photo #8-9)

She finally got up, and got her routine started. She normally exercises but today she decided to skip the workout and just run this eventing 4 miles. 

She made the bed, showered and put on some sort of lotion which I documented. (Photo #10-12) 

I asked for one more photo by the window... we always get nice sunlight coming in. (Photo #13)

So while sexual/erotic tones are present, this was a legit attempt to create art to appreciate her beauty and sexuality. The body of work inherently would inspire arousal, but hopefully not more arousal than artistic appreciation.
