Interludes: Yay, nays, or meh.
Added 2024-06-21 12:40:10 +0000 UTCI've been playing with the idea of doing a quick interlude from another place in the world. It may or may not have to do with the civilizations of this world and how they go about their days.
When I do it, it'll probably end up as an extra chapter (outside of the schedule) and I'll put it up whenever it's ready (and edited).
Just trying to get a pulse on what you all like. I think it will be fun.
Edit: Thanks for the votes and comments! I'm not responding individually because I'd be spoiling stuff, but just to clarify, if it happens it would be infrequent and it would be relevant in some manner, even if it's just world-building/setting details.

Yeah an interlude is nice to create some world building. Even from different characters (not in the same interlude, and not one after the other, make some time between interludes); also don't make it multiple chapters except if the idea is really nice because what matters is still the main story. Also I don't think only the oceanic life can be interesting, I obvs don't know how you want to evolve the story, but I reckon the situation on land can be as interesting. :)

2024-06-23 14:32:51 +0000 UTCI think interludes with the whales could be interesting or other sea creatures that have been alluded to (like the monster from the first area), but unless it relates to Henry then it can be a take away from the story. Now if you want to use the interlude to set the stage for future interactions then that can be useful:

2024-06-21 16:26:43 +0000 UTCI think interludes are great! They serve as a nice downtime to break up the action after you finish a high tension point in the story, like after/before a major evolution/fight

2024-06-21 13:39:11 +0000 UTCThe interludes i hate is when its like every other chapter or multiple chapter interludes. 2 is pushing it but after that its too much

2024-06-21 12:52:56 +0000 UTCI personally find that unless the interludes directly relate to the plot or the characters within I find them annoying.

2024-06-21 12:51:18 +0000 UTCI think short interludes are a great way to add more world building without the mc being there. I usually have a good time reading them as long as they aren't happening too often!
