It's to the point where he had to get divorced recently, only after being married for a few months because his "fans" were stalking his wife, and he didn't want her to have a life like that... :/

And yes, figure skating is pretty popular in some countries. Yuzuru Hanyu, for example, has a huge fandom both in Japan and internationally.
