HERE WE GO!!! TIME TO FIND OUT HOW THEY CREATED ENHYPEN.

WATCHING I-LAND EPISODE 1

Comments

i think there definitly some gay/bi idols out there. the chance that everyone is straight is unlikely, but idol dating culture is weird in generell. we dont know any sexuality from most idols, cause we dont see them dating or anything. people always get shipped in idol groups. cause they are touchy and flirty with eachother. some call it fanservice, some think its real, cause you know in korea even friends are really touchy and cuddly (mostly from the same gender) so maybe its just friendly, and people arent used to it and think its romantic and ship them. some idols maybe even mean it for real, but we dont know. cause we dont know anything about their sexuality or dating life. dating is like non existing in the idol world (with some exeptions) if a idol has a girlfriend, its litteraly a scandal. (i always wonder if they date and more without us knowing about it, or just dont to anything like that at all, just single all the time) cause many fans want that idea, that they could date any idol, so even when we leave the homophobia from some "fans" or korea out, some idol beeing gay would totally destroy the "fantasy" from the women fans. (bi would be different, i guess cause the women would still have a chance) so even if many people would be happy that the ships from the group could be real, if the idol is gay, many women would be jelaous. also why having a girlfriend is such a taboo. cause some fans get jelaous and dont like that the idols date someone, who isnt them.thery are many who dont think that way, but many do, thats why getting a girlfriend is a litteraly scandal in the idol world. (joshua from seventeen had a one, a while ago,and the hate for him was insane! some even wanted that he leaves the group) stuff like sexuality or dating is mostly non existend in the idol world. but i think most idols are comfortable with lgbtq since litteraly every group (mostly male ones) could look gay from a outside view, since they always flirt or do skinship. and some idols are even in some bls (korean dramas but gay) since idols acting in dramas is a common thing.

Um it’s showing that the video doesn’t exist for episode 1-2

Crystal World

im team chicken tbh

Mel

the two people who actually fell in love being sunoo and sunghoon

it's so crazy to rewatch it after so many years. it's a good entertainment for viewers, but I cannot imagine the amount of bullshit these guys went through. They were stuck in this fcking cube for months, they haven't seen other people, they were not eating well, or sleeping well because of the amount of pressure, god, THERE IS EVEN NO DOOR TO GO OUTSIDE. Like I just noticed - the only way out is the fcking egg and once it turned around - that's it, no exit. Im sure there are some other ways to get in and like a freaking balcony, but is it enough for a stable mental health? hell no. well, what can I say it's a great show, with lots of manipulations and politics, very enjoyable to watch in the most sick way lol. One thing I can say for sure - I saw Sunoo on the episode 1 and ever since then I voted for him on every voting possible, even forced my friends to do so too lol. One part of me wishes for season 2, because the setup and the building and the show are amazing, but another part understands that it's a freaking child abuse hahahah also only after watching some other survival shows, I realize how incredible the I-land concept was.

Zukhra Talmanova

Pausing this at the beginning just to laugh at how confidently you said Jake is Canadian 🤣

Alicia Vella

If you like this show you NEED to watch Peak Time after you finish this and kingdom! There are some amazing underrated groups on Peak Time and the performances were insane!

Rylie

yee. my thinking is an egg had to have a mutation before a chicken could come from it's ancestors.

Idon'tknow

same cause dinosaurs had eggs

Grace Elwick

I think the egg came first.

Idon'tknow

Hi, just joined your Patreon and re-watching I-LAND (with you). I know you don't really watch most 4th/5th gen groups but from the multi-cultural unit (other than ENHYPEN NI-KI), Hanbin debuted with Tempest on 3/2/2022 (they're on their 4th comeback) and Nicholas is with HYBE Japan's group &Team.

kolea626

i died when cameron said locking was "a cute lil circus dance" hahahahahahahaha

zizijoonie

Cosmic Swirly

irony wilson

Aww shit the emotional damage were about to go thru again but im here for it

irony wilson

Also you have to take it off auto and choose 720 for the quality not to keep dropping :)

AlliePandaa

DEFINITELY THE EGG COMES FIRST. LOL I also got into many heated debates over this topic. Dinosaurs came first and through evolution laid an egg for chicken to come about. A chicken can’t just appear from thin air.

AlliePandaa

Yes, Jacob Bae & Kevin Moon from The Boyz are both Canadian. Jacob is from Toronto and Kevin is from Vancouver.

Zesti

I love that you’re claiming Jake as a Canadian, he’s ours so back off 🇦🇺 can’t wait to watch the rest of the eps with you, I literally became a patron for this 💛

You wanna see boys fall in love on a survival show? Boys Planet that made Zerobaseone this year is a MUST WATCH lol. It was entirely known as BL Planet, Girly Pop planet, Gays planet, etc by the fans throughout the whole show lol. Like it was only BARELY hidden, and sometimes not even then. Multiple trainees spoke very gratefully about being "allowed to be themselves". One of the most popular trainees on the show was a BL actor, (like fully making out with hot dudes on camera) and mnet even mentions it in the first episode during the trainee auditions! The main Korean "center" trainee came from a background in tutting/wacking and (queer) ballroom dancing, best known pre-debut for a dance video he did to Ru Paul's "Call me Mother". The show was astoundingly, wonderfully gayyyy - at least as much as you can be without outright saying it on mnet lol. While also showcasing some incredibly serious talent that have now debuted as a major force in 5th gen kpop! (Can't believe we're already in 5th gen ughhh) VERY excited to watch both I-Land and SKZ with you! I was an avid subscriber of yours back in the very early days of BTS, but then kinda stepped away from everything kpop for awhile. I've come back as a full blown multi these days, so watching these shows with you specifically feels so very nostalgic for me lol. Keep up the lovely work Cam!! <3

Nobel

apparently there is a jake in The Boyz and this is who i was thinking of lol!

I'm so excited for you to start your Enhypen journey with I-land. I often come back and rewatch the show because it is really good and I like to go back and see them at their beginning and to see how they start to bond with each other. The show was brutal for them and the guys often refer to it as pure hell and it seems as they blocked a big chunk of the memories due to the trauma. The cameras on them were bad bad bad, like there were actual livestreams when the show was airing and you could see them practicing, eating and all of that. You could literally be sitting for hours just watching them be, it felt a bit too... invasive imo. Them having to decide everything was so stressful but I also feel it was an interesting and pretty good format. At the end, if you don't get along with your members is going to suck, so giving them the opportunity to decide that was beneficial I would say. You will definitely cry A LOT. The show is very good and it has amazing moments through it all. The Enhypen members recently said that the building had a cemetery in the back and it was very creepy. Also, they were stuck there with zero exterior or family communication for 3-4 months and while they were preparing for the start of the show, they weren't allowed to see each other. They were completely isolated from one another for almost a year for most, so the producers and us would be able to see them meet for the first time and bond on camera. This was filmed and aired peak pandemic so like June-September of 2020 so it was very strict. Also, since the ages are in Korean age, this might be easier: K (the oldest) was born in 1997. He is as old as Jungkook, followed by Harbin (1998) and Seon(1999). The rest are in the middle from 2001-2004 While the youngest ones, Yoonwon born in 2005, Ni-ki born in 2005, Taki born in 2005 and Daniel born in 2006. Ni-ki and Taki are not siblings but they do have a very brotherly bond to this date lololol. They have similar stage names because they're both are named Riki. Ni-ki's real name is (Ni)shimura Ri(ki) and Taki's real name is (Ta)kayama Ri(ki) and well, they are Japanese hehe so yeah lol. I know I write a lot but I love Enhypen, the show and the trainees so much. I've kept up with most of the non-Enhypen members since the show finished and I won't give you spoilers but almost everyone is doing pretty well. They do keep in touch with each other and hang out sometimes so it's nice to know that despite being in such a traumatic show that gave them awful stress, they can still be really good friends. Trauma bonding Is great, yaaay! lmfao Once again, thank you for your reaction and can't wait to see more. Do you happen to know if you'll watch the show as a weekly thing or more of a monthly kind of reaction? I'm not sure if you mentioned it at some point so I'm sorry if I missed it hehe

Galice

No canadians, only Korean-Americans, Korean-Australian, Taiwanese, Japanese, Vietnamese and of course Koreans. I'm sorry lololol

Galice

Just finished watching and...haha...yes you will cry a lot =') My I-Land biases were Taki, Jay, and Daniel!

BE

Also, I didn't say this in the YT comments, but I'm glad to see you back ^^

BE

I am here for the I-Land journey! Also &Audition (a show with some of the members from I-Land that didn't make it to the final line-up) if you end up doing that down the road as well. I hope you have fun!

BE

omgggg really? is one of them canadian though? i swear i thought i had heard that!

Cameron Philip

I'm sorry to ruin your country camaraderie, but Jake is actually Australian lol. So excited to rewatch this with you! It is a WILD ride.

OMG Im so excited to rewatch Iland with you. Iland is such a roller coaster ride

Missim

Even your “casual” commentary is so good/entertaining. Glad you’re watching. I fell in love w them at debut. I was doing final exams when BTS was doing a comeback & couldnt stream. Thought I’d pay it forward——and had the same reaction you did! Then I was sad I had completely missed I-land.!

if you want to see a survival show with what is the closest to lgbtq+ friendly vibes (for korean standards), check out boys planet! it was a really fun watch

Stephanie

also, their ages here are 1-2 years older than they were. when this show was happening korean age was still a thing. so for ni-ki for example he was only 14 years old and it says he was 16 because of korean age!

skzlover

they were literally trapped there in the middle of no where for 2-3 months with no contact to the outside world. i-land was brutal fr. your hunger games comment was kinda spot on lol.

skzlover

OH IM SO EXCITED FOR THIS, iland is A RIDE. The TRAUMA. Can’t wait for the next episodes!!

Pikle Cortez

Oooh! Looking forward to watching this with you (again, for me, haha).

anatawawho

Literally so excited to watch this with youuuuu. One thing I can say is you will definitely fall in love with Sunoo during this show, he is just amazing, dramatic and funny.
