Some sad news

I've lost a dear family member recently; it was both sudden and unexpected. I'm now left to deal with everything that comes with it. In addition to the grieving process, I have some obligations that will require part of my time and attention until everything is sorted.
It's a tough time right now; honestly, it's the toughest time I've faced in my entire life. Despite this, I'm working as usual because it provides a good distraction, and I wish to keep things as normal as possible.
I try to keep my personal life separate from my work life, but it didn't sit right with me not to share this with you as it affects my work. You can lower or remove your pledge for October, should you wish to do so.
All I ask of you is some extra patience with me during this tough time. I'll try my best to keep things as normal as possible with previews and updates.
But please, don't worry too much about me; my heart will always be fully in this project and I will get through this. I will work as normal as possible and I'm not letting this affect development more than it has to. I'm not planning on taking any breaks unless I absolutely have to take a day off.
Remember to hug your loved ones and always end on a good note with them. I've lived by this, and I find comfort in the fact that both of our last words were, "I love you."

I'm a bit late to this, but as someone who has experienced some pretty traumatic experiences including a rapid sequence of deaths with some for reasons that should never exist, I can speak first hand that using work as a distraction and not taking time to reflect/heal can put one at risk for carrying that baggage for a seriously long time and it can get buried under all the other life things. I have regrets about not taking the time off and taking care of myself. So, definitely be sure to listen to what you need and take care of yourself. That shit can carry in ways that you don't recognize. Also, everyone grieves so very differently that I learned to be extra forgiving in moments of grief. Lots of weird lashing out and other shit can take place. The last thing I learned is that food in the moment can be nice, but everyone and their monkey brings way too much food the first week. When food is the best is the following weeks when people are too depressed to take care of themselves and there isn't a glut of too much condolence food.

I lost my Dad in 2011 and the last words I ever said to him were "I hate you and I never wanna see you again." We had a very rocky relationship my whole life. He was an addict, hard drugs and alcohol and I was struggling with my own alcoholism at the time and I was only 18. I spent the next few years very drunk and suicidal. I hurt myself a lot physically and was recently diagnosed with 5 acute behavioral disorders after a bout with auditory hallucinations. I had a severe breakdown and had to be hospitalized for a while. I really regret our last conversation and I've had a long time to heal from it. You really hit the nail on the head with cherishing those relationships. Even though he put us through a lot. I still miss him. I really feel for you and we love you DPC. Lean on us if you need us. We're here for you in this!!

I only discovered your work (Acting Lessons) about 2 years ago while dealing with a personal loss myself (despite the warnings that the game might be too intense for someone going through a dark time). I'd been holding a lot of emotions in, thinking that I had grieved, but after playing the game I realized I wasn't done yet. I'm still not, but time has eased the pain. I wish you all the time you need to take care of yourself.

I won't ask if ur ok (I got enough of that when I lost my mother), what I will say is take time to heal, don't overwork urself, talk to someone if need be (be it a friend, family, or even a therapist), and don't let urself drown in the sorrow or anger if u have any ( I speak from experience). I can so relate to your words as we had some arguments during the last time. But I am so happy that we settled it and forgave each other. I don't know how I would feel if not... Take your time, all that you need. Do the things, that let you feel better. I don't know, if you believe in a religion or god, but I believe, our loved ones are not gone, they are only somewhere else and we will finally meet again. Death belongs to live, because live would not be what it is, without death. Somehow I like this kind of thinking as it gives me calmness.
