Status update Episode 9

This is the progress since Monday's delayed update.
The long 1 min 23 s animation is finally done, and I couldn't be more proud. I've put it together and added music/sound effects to it and probably watched it 20 times, smiling and thinking about how long way we've come. I never imagined I'd be able to do something like this in the past, and now it's what I want more of in the future.
3820 static renders, including the render queue, have been posed. Since Monday, I have posed around 10 animations too.
I worked on some lewd scenes that needed art, and I've also been working on renders for the episode's ending. I don't work in chronological order, though.
Yesterday, I spent all day playtesting three of the branches. I fixed errors that I spotted and made a to-do list of things that needed to be polished.
The feel of the episode is good, but it's still very rough, and it's tough getting a complete picture when many scenes are missing. I can't play everything from start to finish as the final free roam event isn't completed, and I can't test the produced scenes of the final free roam event without messing up the flow.
I will go back to making art today but seeing the current status of those three playthroughs was a good indicator. Something I liked, in particular, was how the branches felt different and unique in many areas.
I think it's safe to say that there are at least 3 hours of playtime for any given playthrough if you're not rushing through the episode. I estimate that you need at least 10 different and particular save files to see everything, which is nuts.
I played without mini-games, too, and I know that the party planning mini-game will add quite a lot of extra playtime, depending on your ambition.

I mean, I'm very patient, but I haven't seen episode updates for almost 1 year and we're stuck at number 8. The prelude was nice, but nothing special in my opinion. I don't want to rush the artwork. But I think it's time to say: "in the month of November I think episode 9 can be released" for example ... P.s. sorry for my terrible English

And of course I didn't mean use the in game player to play outside source tracks, I've seen games get brought up on charges from misuse of in game music players. As I mentioned in my original post, if it's beyond trivial, which it probably would cost additional effort, it's not worth it, and there's already a workaround. Just a thought.

Even with that number of playthroughs I am pretty sure I did not see everything in S1&2. It would be really cool if you could include a kind of counter or progress bar or something else per path which tells "you dioscovered x / y renders" or "you discovered x% of path y". Second, as you pointed out with the three paths, I don't know if there's been a bullet-point guide to getting each girl, but it would be nice to have that before Season 3 starts. I think I had 5 different games saved to change paths, but inevitably I accidently saved over the wrong slot too many times. OOF!

I think one of my favorite pets about this game is starting a new play through and just appreciating the increased level of skill and talent in each and every episode. One particular scene in episode 8 with Lily and seeing the hearts in her eyes because of the neon light behind MC stands out to me as simply being beautiful. Keep up the great work Doc!

2022-09-09 16:52:51 +0000 UTCThat sound so cool! from what i heard we gonna have so many different ways to enjoy this season and its only the first episode of it! , my best guess regarding the 1.20-sec lewd scene is that it's a trio with Maya and josy.. i don't know why I can feel it haha (and I'm super hyped for it! i want those 3 to have a happy ending as a group.. it's 2022 after all.. and I have to admit that I am so hyped for this season and it makes me smile every Friday when you update us! so keep going!

I'm loving this! I still have a few playthrough to get through the interlude and I cant wait for ep 9! Keep doing what you're doing DPC you're by far the best!

As far as ch9 progress, it already sounds awesome, which was to be expected! No pressure of course, but I was thinking about the Friday Prophets situation. If it's trivial effort (as a dev myself, I'm not about to ask you to add scope creep LOL), could you provide an option to have no music upon startup of the game? I was thinking we could play whatever music we wanted outside of the game to start it up. I've got a few songs beyond Punk Rock Flu that would slap, but would never be approved for license 🤣

I'm always excited about the new releases of BaDIK, but between the season 2 cliffhanger ending and the teasing of everything that promises to come in episode 9, I might be more excited for this release than any other, which is saying a lot.
