Weekly Update - 9/17/25

What a long, strange week it's been. I went back to where I grew up for my high school reunion and figured I'd probably be made miserable there, simply because I don't have a wife and kids, like literally everybody else I ran into. That said, I also travel extensively, keep my own hours, work for myself doing a thing I love and I've got a group of friends I feel like I could trust with my life. Seems like nearly everyone I ran into is missing most of that, and a lot of people asked how hard it is to relocate to California these days.

I got new ink done. I saw old friends and checked in with my family. I swapped stories with people I haven't seen in a decade about what sort of hijinx and tomfoolery we got up to when we were a lot younger. But most of all, I recharged.

So, we'll see how much I can get through things over the next few days. I have more Magic prereleases to run this weekend (Spider-Man! which should be fun) but I've gotten a clearer head from the trip, and I feel like I'm starting to get in the groove, even for writing some more difficult sections. I posted up Pack 20 for everyone and Pack 21 for alphas, and should have Pack 22 off to its commissioner in the next day or so, which is good, since it's all sort of one big arc.

I am making a concerned effort to talk less about politics for a bit, but my one slight jab for this week is I challenge anyone to watch Kimmel's monologue from last night and say he needs to be taken off the air indefinitely for that. The Fox'n'Friends host said that mentally ill homless people should be killed, and he's still on the air, and that's FAR worse than anything Kimmel said. (Also, your free reminder that when Nancy Pelosi's husband was attacked in his own home, the right joked and laughed about it.) But I said I'd try and talk less about that, so enough there for this week.

Gen V is back on TV this week and Slow Horses makes its return I think next week? If you aren't watching Slow Horses and enjoy spy stuff in any way, GO. NOW.

Also, Robert Redford died, and yes, he'd lived a great life passing at the ripe old age of 89, but he was still one of my favorite actors. I'm going to have to cram in a double header of Sneakers and Spy Game at some point in the very near future.

Anyway, my arm is flaking like crazy (from the fresh ink), and it's boardgame night, so I'm heading out for a while and going to see all my local friends again for what feels like the first time in a month.

Public releases in coming weeks: 9/20 - Merlin's Gift 1; 9/27 - QT2:37; 10/4 - QTUM 7, BTS 16; 10/11 - Merlin's Gift 2.

Take care of yourselves out there, folks. It's getting scary.

Well at certain times, media and politicians have used the 'Quod licet iovis, not licet bovis' mantra quite successfully.
