Weekly Update - 6/11/25

No lies - the last few days have been particularly rough. Those of you who don't like it when I talk politics, tap out here and just come back for the next story post, which will probably be tomorrow or Friday, depending on what level you are. (I'm still working on Ch. 2 of HTWT for Alphas.) The rest of you, this will be a bit of venting steam.

This idiot president of ours is putting National Guard on the streets of Los Angeles, against the wishes of the Governor. For those of you who think it's to quell violence, you should look at literally ALL the reports from Los Angeles. There isn't any violence. The worst thing that happened was three Waymos were set on fire, and if that's the bar we're setting for dispatching the National Guard to our soil, we'd better ban the Super Bowl and the Final Four and March Madness and and and... The National Guard and the Marines are going to incite violence. That's going to happen. This is Kent State all over again. Or The Chicago Seven.

It's in violation of the Posse Comitatus Act, but hey, who cares about what's legal anymore, right?

Fascism isn't coming; it's here.

I have some pretty strong mixed feelings about our governor here in California, Gavin Newsom, but in this case, I think he's doing the right thing. We're going to be up against the wall, and if the orange pig in the White House gets away with intimidating us, nobody else is going to stand up. California's a big swinging dick of an economy, and if he wants to hit, we can hit back. Trump is threatening to cut off all federal grants to California; California can simply respond by refusing to pay taxes to the federal government. Trump said that to a reporter "his primary crime is running for governor." Let that sink in. Trump thinks it's a crime to oppose him in any way. If you don't see that as a problem, you are the problem.

THIS IS NOT NORMAL.

We will not be pushed around and forced into submission underneath the bootheel of this bargain basement wanna-be dictator. He's holding a military parade on American streets on his birthday. The damage the city streets are going to suffer from tanks rolling on them is estimated in the millions.

Speak up. Speak loud. Protest. Be on the right side of history.

And, keep in mind, all of this is meant to distract people from asking what IS about Trump in the Epstein Files. That's what kicked all of this off.

On top of all that, Brian Wilson died.

Anyway, I'll try and get through Chapter 2 of Have Totem, Will Travel as soon as I can, and then will move on to even more things. Writing's hard when I have to keep glancing at the TV to see if we've still got a functioning country. I've been spending a bit of time more than normal around friends, trying to keep ourselves sane. I went and saw From the world of John Wick: Ballerina yesterday with Actual Phil, and it was fun enough, but man, does it bear all the hallmarks of a film that's been under development for several years, with loads of reshoots.

On the plus side, I found out I missed a couple of John Butler releases last year, and Still Searching is one of his best albums ever, and that says something. I've had it on heavy repeat for the last few weeks to help clear my thoughts.
