Weekly Update - 4/16
Added 2025-04-18 09:45:21 +0000 UTCI already hear you asking - what the fuck happened, and are you okay, Dev?
The second answer first - I'm fine. Saturday morning, I had to drop off my flatmate at the airport as he was heading out on vacation with his family. At 6 a.m. Now, maybe nobody knows this about me (although I'm sure member of my Discord know) but I'm a night owl. I start my day usually at 10 or 11 a.m. because I don't go to bed until 2-3 a.m. Being functional, mobile and driving a motor vehicle at 5:45 a.m. is my own personal hell. Anyway, I took him to the airport, then came back home and tried to go back to sleep, but my body clock just went haywire, and the next couple of days, sleeping on and off was difficult, as was focusing or writing.
Then Monday came, and my phone started blowing up, and not in a way I was happy to hear. Because of the tariffs, a bunch of people I either used to work for or work with have lost their jobs very suddenly, and they were calling me up asking if I knew anybody who had open jobs or work. This was also their way to tell me that any side hustles I might have had with them before had dried up. And in a couple of cases, I was talking people off ledges, reminding them that we've been through other crashes before and we've come out okay.
And, of course, Tuesday was Tax Day, and I had to do that too.
So yeah, it ain't been a great week. It took a while to get The Threadbinders back into what I wanted, and I'm going to spend all day tomorrow writing, seeing what I can get done and get pumped out. It'd been too long since I'd touched Threadbinders and so I had to keep doing a bunch of checking, seeing where I'd left things, remembering what I was doing, etc. I'm also hoping to spend a bit of time tomorrow and Saturday doing another thing for you folks that I'll get into later.
Also, I thought I'd made this update here earlier, but I may have just made it on the Discord. Some of you have been asking why there hasn't been any updates in one of the QT spinoffs, specifically, QT: Aotearoa, the one being written by Percheron set in New Zealand. Last we in the writer's room heard (which was early last year), Percheron had a life-threatening medical condition, and we haven't heard from him in over a year, so we are currently operating under the thought that he may have passed away, which means that story is probably over. We have some unfinished/in-development/unpublished chapters in the story he'd been working on with the writer's room, but nobody's sure what to do with those, if anything. They were most 'under development' and certainly were still being worked on, and so we definitely don't feel comfortable releasing them without some kind of permission. We're still certainly hoping the diagnosis was wrong and that Percheron will reappear at some point, but we don't have any confirmation of things in either direction. If anyone hears anything more about that, we'll let you know. Needless to say, we're all still hoping for a miracle and that he'll reappear at some point.
I should sleep. But first, here's the upcoming public schedule for the next month or so. Also I chose to hold off releasing Smokeland Slumdance to the public sites since I haven't written any more in it since. We'll see: 4/19 - QT2:30; 4/26 - CARP 11; 5/3 - Pack 14, QT2:i6; 5/10 - QT2:31; 5/17 - BTS 14.
Comments
I assume you had some type of contact information for Percheron - name, e-mail address, etc. Assuming you have his name, and it's not as common as John Smith or Matt Jones, what type of Google Search have any of the QT team done for street address/phone or obituaries since that last communication. We've love to get a firmer story conclusion, as would his fellow authors, I'm sure. Can Silver Ryden, writing the Tiberius Marshall story in nearby Australia, provide any Down Under Kiwi assistance? Wishing you a less chaotic week ahead.
