Weekly Update - 2/12/25

Here comes the rain again, falling on my head like a memory, falling on my head like a new emotion...

I'm feeling myself again, which is good, and I'm starting to make progress on getting caught up. I lost a good portion of today editing and proofreading other people's copy, but, on the plus side, I can tell you there's another great QT story coming from another new writer in the very near future. That said, for a while I think we're going to ask that nobody submit additional QT stories set in the UK - Agathon and LL, who are minding that particular corner of the world - have plenty enough going on there, especially since this new story is set there as well. That said, if you were pitching me on a new QT story before and haven't heard back from me, maybe drop me a reminder, as I may have misplaced your query in the shuffle. And if you're considering writing one yourself, remember, there's loads of places that nobody's touched yet, many of which I think would have a lot of fascinating tales to tell.

I'm especially happy with how QT2:i7 came out, and glad to see everyone having such a positive reaction to it. For those of you who are just free subscribers, in six months' time, you'll see this intermission that focuses on giving gays, bis and trans folks a place in the QT universe. Obviously, I've had plans with the Sergei Swerve on the books for a long time, but I didn't want it in story to feel unearned. That said, it also felt like the right time that I try and make it clear that I see our trans brothers and sisters, and remind them that they aren't forgotten, not in fiction nor in real life, no matter how challenging the road ahead is. There are still some of the strange and arbitrary rules that affect all corners of the Quaranteam universe, but the path to survival and prosperity has a way forward in QT now. And for those of you eager for me to get back to Andy and the rest of Team Rook, we'll be back with them soon enough. Intermissions are just that - a glimpse sideways, at other things that are happening in the story. But it also helps to start setting a template, in case anyone wants to pitch me stories using the QT:Quad serum, and allowing people who want to explore avenues I'm unlikely to touch the chance to do so.

I should hopefully have the next QTUM chapter off to its commissioner within the next day or so, now that I can think clearly again. Honestly, I don't think I appreciated how foggy my brain was last week until I woke up this morning (technically it was still morning, at 11:30 AM) and felt basically back to normal again. I don't think I've even coughed today, so yay, progress!

I may have to take this month as a 'catchup' month, meaning content will be a little light to the public eye, as I try and get commissions back in line, but who knows. I have the house to myself for nearly a week, and when that happens, I tend to get a lot done. Here's hoping, anyway! I'll probably try and bang out QT2:36 for Friday, simply because that's another one that I know where all the pieces are, although there's also a chance I could circle back and try and get Neon Stonehenge close to finished. I've got probably 2-3 chapters to wrap that book up before moving on to Have Totem, Will Travel, which is Druid Gunslinger Book 2 (which I've only just begun to start thinking about). It's possible I may try and do a double-long chapter, partially to make up for missing it last month, and partially because a lot of the dénouement stuff may be hard to find a stopping point in the middle of. Unless people really think I should do a new Silversmith story considering Friday is Valentine's Day. Tell you what, I'll throw up an actual all paid subscribers poll for now until I'll get up tomorrow morning, and let you all vote on it, as my way of thanking you all for your patience. And I'll throw up the next You Decide! poll for that tier of subscribers as well in the next few days (probably tomorrow afternoon, after the all subscribers poll finishes).
