Weekly Update - 1/29/25

Things were actually going well up until yesterday. I'd made progress in some stuff I was working on, I knocked out the QT:Phil's Tale chapter in almost record time for me, and I felt like just maybe I could get caught up. Then this morning I woke up with a super scratchy voice and a throat full of phlegm, so that put a kibosh on the energy. That said, I'm still going to keep pushing forward as best I can, although I'm definitely going to be sleeping a lot. I was in bed until nearly 2 pm. and then ran out to get a late lunch. I'm even ditching my weekly poker game, so y'all know I'm taking it seriously.

The work queue looks like thus: finish next month's QTUM chapter for it's commissioner, write Friday's Captains' Days, write next month's A Pack Of His Own, then start in on QT2:i7. Since I'm not going to poker night tonight, I'm hoping to make headway into the queue, but we'll see how it goes, because I'm also probably going to crash early tonight and see if I can get a long night's rest. Maybe I'll get up tomorrow and feel a hundred percent better. There's nothing on my schedule until Saturday afternoon, so I'll keep trying to get as much writing as I can during that period of time, but right now, keeping a train of thought clear and focused ain't easy. My mind keeps bouncing from one thing to another. It's possible QT2:i7 becomes Tuesday's (2/4) release, and I use the extra time to work on trying to get ahead for February (or to chip away at a few long suffering delayed things) but we'll see how everything turns out.

If you haven't read QT:PT23 yet, I highly recommend you read that, as it marks the first appearance of a character you're going to see popping up across several series moving forward. One of the things I work with other writers on is things that will make everything feel more connected, that brings and binds our separate stories in the shared universe, and if you've ever read comic books, you know how sometimes someone's first appearance gets overlooked. So I'll save you the trouble - make sure you read this one. I think it's a particularly good chapter anyway.

The kittens seems particularly surprised that I'm around, as if they have gotten into a rhythm as when to expect me and the flatmate to be in and out of the house, as one of them just sprinted over to my desk and hopped into her perch just to the side of my computer, as if she realized I was around when I'm not usually and she could get scritches. They've also been none too thrilled with the constant barrage of fireworks celebrating Lunar New Year, and have occasionally sprinted beneath desks, on top of counters or behind television, hoping to escape the clatter.

Here's my public release schedule for the next month or so: 2/1 - Neon Stonehenge 8; 2/8 - QT2:28; 2/15 - Captains' Days 3; 2/22 - NS 9; 3/1 - A Pack Of His Own 14; 3/8 - Before The Storm 13.

Anyhow, that's where we are. 2025. Fuck this year right in the eyesocket.

πŸ™‚ Thank you on behalf of the USS Carnes. Construction on her was completed just after the Dominion War. The original USS Admiral Carnes was damaged beyond repair defending DS9 near the end of the war. With the end of that war, another started. Crime cartels had appeared and were running out of control. To combat this, the Special Operation Groups (SOG) were established. The first was established near the Badlands, and its' missions were investigate these cartels and either reduce their operations, or remove the cartel completely. The command of this first SOG was placed in the hands of a newly promoted Admiral known for "Thinking Outside the Box". Rear Admiral Goldar ALE was selected. The new ship was commissioned "Carnes" . As always, Stay safe and well.

I'd call it the USS Carnage...
