Weekly Update - 1/8/25
Added 2025-01-08 21:59:10 +0000 UTCWhat a goddamn week. I spent the back half of last week fighting off a head cold that I'm still working on, and on Monday, I started a new diet/exercise regiment, because frankly, I haven't cared for the way I've looked in mirrors and photos for a while now. Nothing too extreme - I know how to ramp my body slowly back into shape, and going too hard too fast is an easy way to make me quit, but I'm on day three of that, and I'm definitely feeling more energy, which is good, even if I'm hungry literally all the goddamn time.
Then, yesterday I wake up and hear that L.A. is under siege by winds that they haven't seen in decades, and by the middle of the afternoon, a good part of the county was catching fire. I spent a decent part of the afternoon calling old co-workers saying, "Hey, you're not on fire right now, are you?"
All that said, I'm back in the word mines again, and am hoping to finish up QTSS3 to send off to its commissioner today, and then QTUM8 off to its commissioner on Friday (which will be accompanied by the alpha release of 7 and the general subscriber release of 6) with QT2:35 on the books for next Tuesday. Definitely going and walking 30-60 minutes a day is helping clear the head and put me back on the productive track. You'd think I'd learned this lesson before, but every so often, apparently I just get stuck into the hole where I think I can write my way out of anything and forget that the key when you're stuck is to get up, walk around, take a little bit of a break and then come back to it. If I'm making progress on getting caught up on this, I'll try and jam more stuff into the schedule, but I don't want to overpromise and underdeliver. If more stuff comes out during the next week, then go me. If not, well, shit, know that I tried.
Knowing a bunch of people I like are staring down an incoming blaze has me more than a little worried, but nobody I know is particularly close to the problem as of time of writing, so I'm hoping everyone I know stays safe, but it's pretty fucking scary out there, and that's going to have me a little distracted, so take care of yourselves, folks, especially if you're anywhere near the mess in SoCal.
I missed public release windows last week, so it'll be a double batch this week: 1/11 - Turn At Sin River 1, Neon Stonehenge 7, QT2:26; 1/18 -QT:UM3; 1/25 - QT2:27; 2/1 - NS 8; 2/8 - QT2:28; 2/15 - Captains' Days 3.
Anyway, there's where we are and where I am. Despite the scariness in the world right now, I am starting to feel better, and hopefully the change in diet/exercise is something I can stick with and not just chuck into the bin. Hang in there, my people, and treat yourself with a little kindness. You've earned it.

I feel your pain. My dumbass cousin came to Thanksgiving with covid, after two/3 weeks, just when I'm over it. I get bronchitis and am still miserable..

2025-01-09 07:22:08 +0000 UTCIf you don't use a fit bit, but a pedometer app on your phone. Try for a minimum of 6,000 steps a day. The workout programs using a chair are great as well (keep you out of the smoky air). Be well.
