Weekly Update - 11/27/24

Good lord, I had such plans for this week.

So Monday night, after my flatmate had left for the week (taking the kittens with him, cruelty of cruelties), the power went out. So I went to bed an hour or so later and when I woke up, the power had come back on, but our internet connection needed to be reset, so I ended up waiting a while for that to turn back on.

Tuesday was also my birthday, and midday when some friends of mine called to invite me out to dinner, I couldn't hear them, as it turned out the speaker on my cellphone had died. That meant before we went out for dinner, me and my friends sat in an Apple store and waited for 'everything' to transfer from my old phone to my new phone.

Yes, all the apps and information got transferred across, but all the authenticators needed to be reauthorized, some passwords needed to be changed, and a whole lot of things just needed to be tweaked and/or fixed. I haven't changed phones since January 2017, so I don't think I realized how much I've put into that little thing over the years, how many countries it's been with me in, and all the stories it could tell. But I needed to reauthenticate a bunch of shit, including my car. Living in the future. That's been the project of Wednesday and Thursday, in addition to cleaning the house and writing.

My desk is basically in good shape again, so when the flatmate returns with the kittens, they will be allowed to walk on my desk, lay down in places and even just hang out. I used to have a cubby hole on my desk with a blanket in it, back when I had two cats in the house, but both of my cats passed away quite some time ago (one in 2015 and one in 2020) so the cubby hole had devolved back to storage. Well, I've fixed that, and I hope to see a kitten cuddling up there sooner or later, once they're back.

I'm working on the next chapter of Before The Storm and hope to have it out tonight, but it might be tomorrow - we'll see how far and fast I can type and things move, but I'm eager to be back in that storyline again, as it's always been one of my favorites.

My public release schedule for the next few weeks looks like this: 11/30 - QT2:25; 12/7 - BTS 11; 12/14 - Captains' Day 2, QT2:i5; 12/21 - Before The Storm 12.
