Weekly Update - 7/3/24

I'm back! I'm alive! I feel mostly better! Aaaaaaand it's a fucking heatwave. Great. Juuuuust great. It's currently... 102F outside? Oh fuuuuuuuck this... Yeah, I'm typing this offline from a Chili's right now where I'm getting lunch and I'll post it as soon as I get back to the house. Most days I don't care that we don't have A/C. When it gets over 100? Yeah, I dip out for a few hours.

Hopefully everyone enjoyed QT2:28, which clocked in a little bigger than I expected it to, but I figured nobody would mind, since I'd been down for the count so long with whatever head cold I picked up from Antidiluvian Death Bats or wherever the hell I caught it from.

There will be a story chapter on Friday or Saturday, despite the July 4th holiday on Thursday, and later today I'll throw up a poll for the high tier readers to vote on what I'm writing for next Friday. I'm starting to work on getting caught up on commissions, but I'm also being sure not to overtax myself, so believe me, I haven't forgotten about you. One of them is about 3k in and will probably go to commissioners today if I'm lucky (it's something new, so all readers will start seeing it next month, but it's from one of our longest standing commissioners, so it's QTcentric, and I think everyone will have a great time with it). It took a while to get the handle on it, but I think I've got it now. We'll see what the commissioners say when they see it.

In terms of things I'm enjoying, holy hell, The Boys has been doing amazing work this season. Yeah, the gore level continues to be cranked to the wall (I had to look away for a few seconds this season for the first time since it hit one of my personal squick buttons - injury to eyes) but the critique about the dangers of power are great. I do find it hilarious that a bunch of people had huge objections to this season because they just figured out that Homelander isn't the good guy of the story.

I'm a little nervous with the politics of the last week, considering the Supreme Court just decided we have a King and not a President, although I suppose I should take comfort in the fact that certainly no Republicans will claim what Biden's doing with the justice department is wrong, considering their Supreme Court just ensured it's totally legal. Honestly, if you saw what the Supreme Court did on Tuesday and you weren't scared, you aren't paying attention.

I know some people think I wear my politics a little too openly on my sleeve, and I've often said, I try and portray the reasonable members of the right well in my fiction and that it's just the nutcases that you have to worry about. Well, I hate to say it, if Trump wins, and they implement this Project2025 of theirs, my work may get classified as 'illegal' and I'll have to turn outlaw, or get arrested. Can't say I'm particularly thrilled with that.
