Swell Reads Story Raffle! (also poll results)
Added 2018-05-20 16:00:01 +0000 UTCSo! If you've been paying attention to our stretch goals, you'd know that we've more than passed the $150 mark, which is great. You all made it happen. As a reward, we'll begin doing monthly raffles for free stories. Here's the lowdown on how it's gonna work:
-- -- HOW IT WORKS -- --
In layman's terms, you are to pitch your idea for a custom-written story to me. While there's no strict guidelines on how to present your idea, it likely should only take 1 or 2 sentences to describe it. If you've read this far without clicking off the page, you're more than capable of entering.
The deadline to enter is a week from today! As in, you have until 11:59 PM EST on May 27th.
After the signup period ends, I will gather all of the responses and throw the top 5 that would work best as a written + dubbed story into a strawpoll.
-- -- PRIZES -- --
All prizes will be delivered by the same means that you entered through. Yes, even if you are not a patron, you are allowed to enter.
The first place winner will get their idea written into a full-length (2000-2400 words) story, and have it subsequently dubbed with SFX.
The second and third place winners will get their idea written into a shorter (1000-1200 words) story, and have it subsequently dubbed (SFX not included).
-- -- OH BOY, HOW DO I ENTER? -- --
There are two ways to enter:
-Send us a message on Patreon.
-Privately send a DM to nametaken#4664 on Discord.
Pretty simple, innit?
-- -- MISC -- --
- DO NOT REVEAL YOUR ENTRY TO THE PUBLIC, IT MAY BE DISCARDED IF YOU DO SO. This is to prevent any bias from swaying the vote, the last thing I want is for the raffle to become a popularity contest.
- Exact plot details will be discussed *after* the polling results have been tallied.
- We reserve the right to reject entries for any reason.
Good luck to all who enter!

I've also taken a look at the results of the two interest polls I submitted yesterday:
- I was thinking of boosting original stories with SFX up to $5 while having multi-parters be $2, but I was worried that it would seem too money leech-y. Judging by the poll results, though, it seems that 89% of you agree with the idea. Our first batch of original stories will begin to be posted in June, though. So no harm, no foul done.
- The second poll was a bit closer, coming in at 7 in favor of removing dub commissions, and 4 against. I was already inclined to get rid of them due to how complex the pricing was (relative to the flat "$25 for an original story commission + $X for art" rate), so it's a relief that at least a majority agrees.
